Eccie mirror or scam?

I have been using Google to search this site since the internal search tool is not the most reliable, in doing so I have found a site that appears to be a copy of this forum last refreshed a year or two ago.

I am not going to link it directly as I assume it is a scam of some sort, but was wondering if it served a legitimate purpose or not?

The site shares the same name, but a com address in place of the .net one that this one uses.

If it is a scam perhaps a legal nasty gram or a digital millennium copyright take down request is in order ... If even possible.

interesting indeed. it appears to be a mirror site. my profile is listed in the somewhat out of date political forum. many other regulars there (political forum) are also listed.

the "main page" of the political forum of this mirror site is out of date by almost a year. the main site page itself is even more out of date.

not sure the purpose here. there are web bots that can "crawl" websites and gather up the data .. most of it in many cases like what appears here and re-create a site.


one thing i wouldn't do .. try to login. the entire purpose might be to get people to mistake this mirror site as the real eccie to harvest user names and ..their passwords.

they may then take the user name and password and go to THIS SITE and hijack your account.

otherwise i can't guess what it's purpose is.


there is a real mirror of eccie.net on the way back time machine website ..many other sites also there. those "point in time mirrors" are not a real functional website. just a point in time copy.

These two domains resolve to 77.245.56.30 and 77.245.56.25 respectively. The two sites may be both run by the same entity. One a backup of the other or maybe they are planning to move the primary site from one domain to the other. The fact that the ip addressing is in the same class c range indicates that they are part of the same ownership.

I agree with DOT. Just checked, it looks like a development site for eccie. It has all private messages, etc. I don’t have premium access. The data seems to have been copied early January of this year.
