I will add that I agree with many who question the true accuracy of the unemployment rate due to the difficulty in assessing who should actually be included.
If they aren't actively seeking employment that still makes them unemployed.

What does that have to do with the variables used in calculating the unemployment rate? Do you want to include retirees, housewives and children in there too? What part of not actively seeking employment are you not understanding?

I have to admit that I am laughing to myself that I am discussing this in a thread started by one of the biggest trolls in this forum. What has happened to me? LOL

Edit for below: You know how to find that. You are on the internet all day... I'm rarely in the mood to play silly games just because a person can't admit when he is wrong.

Well what's your definition of unemployment? Is there some magic formula to determine the unemployment rate?

Well that's nice. The unemployment rate will rise you can bet on it.

Since 2004 there are only two time periods where the unemployment rate (reported by the WSJ) has gone to 10%. They are:

1. 2008 - Wall Street meltdown

2. 2020 - CoVid19 spread

Check out the Civilian Unemployment rate chart in the link below.

A new virus could evolve from the wild that we don't have a vaccine for. A Wall Street Meltdown like we had in 2008 is not likely to repeat itself. The passing of the Dodd/Frank financial reform act was designed to prevent that type of scenario from happening again.
