Just for some contrast to this story.
I was in San Jose staying at the Sportsman's Lounge and decided to go do some gambling at the Hotel Del Rey (another spot to pick up chica's). Security got me an uber and off we went.
Got inside, hit a slot machine, went to the bar to get a drink, and noticed my iPhone was missing. So I started freaking out a little, looking at the floor all the way back to my slot machine where my jacket was still at, checked it and no dice. You lose your phone in CR and it's usually "good bye" to it.
Anyways, done looking around the casino I retraced my steps and ended back up at the SL thinking maybe I left it in my room? Nope. Went and spoke with Security about getting in touch with the Uber driver he had called me. Maybe it dropped in his backseat. He started making calls.
It was getting late enough that the girls were beginning to leave SL when one of them "Ginger" hears me talking to Security who got me the Uber. They were still trying to call the guy but he wasn't answering.
Ginger takes me by the hand, looks me in the eyes and says "It's going to be okay. Go do a "Find My Phone" on apple's website. SO I did and saw that it was sitting outside the Hotel Del Ray in the parking lot across the street.
She says "Let's go get it.". She walks with me from The Sportmen's Lodge to the Hotel Del Rey, at 1:30AM, without a single worry in her head. I asked her "Shouldn't we just grab a ride?" and she said it's okay because every street we're walking has cameras because they are monitored by police and no one would bother us.
No one bothered us at all!
We made it to the Hotel Del Rey, I saw the uber that took me there, she spoke to the guards in spanish (I don't know any and I'm glad she was there!), they go get the guy, he comes out and opens up his back doors, there's my phone lying face down on the floor.
I'm very relieved!
Ginger goes back to the hotel with me, spends two hours with me, I gave her $200 because that's what it would have cost me to replace my phone with such short notice. She is shocked, hugs me, gives me her personal phone number and tells me to call her next time in town.
So, not every story ends horribly in CR
