Me-own problem with the Eagles are that they're phony.

for their shows.

... However - another thing you mentioned is the
music SUCCESS! ... The Eagles "greatest hits" (one)
is the LARGEST SELLING record album of All Time.

But THAT surely don't happen without the corporation
pushing out those album copies all over the world.

And since they QUIT mass-producing record albums
with the advent of CDs many years ago - the Eagles
will die with THAT Great Achievement.

Typically, yes. But that is largely because Mastering Engineers today will butcher analog recordings, with excessived compression, noise reduction, echo, and other ''tools'' they think improves the sound. Consumers appear to embrace it, look up Amazon reviews of some remastered Cd's.. You'll see comments like ''this version blows the old CD away! This one is louder, and the overall sound is crisp and clear''.

Of course what they are hearing is a recording, where the Engineer took a Digital Limiter and squashed the dynamic range, compressing the dynamic range into the middle, reducing the overall range, and making the sound louder. The average CD had a dynamic range of 12-13 in 1990, today it is around 6-7. You might as well be listening to a Jackhammer on a city street.

while there was some discord toward the end of Meisner's tenure in the Eagles his later lack of participation had more to do with long term health issues than any lingering animosity with Frey and Henley.

interestingly, it's reported that Frey and Henley paid for medical treatment. considering Meisner was worth 15 million this seems like a goodwill gesture by the others. Meisner was far from financially destitute.

Good post. I think there is a good analogy here, with KISS. Just like Lennon and McCartney emerged, so too did Simmons and Stanley. Meisner is not unlike Ace Frehley.. Started out as a strong, basically equal member. Then couldn't keep it together. As Henley and Frey got stronger, more dedicated to success, Meisner slipped back, like Ace, became an Alcaholic. Both (I think) were given reasonable opportunity to bounce back, recover. But a band can't wait forever for you to get your shit together. Both Ace and Randy had a little ''oh woe is me'' attitude, slagging the ''meanies'' in their bands, for not extending the carrot far or long enough.

Look at your Wiki stat closer. The Eagles are NOT number 15. Your link calculates All UNITS, including singles, digital downloads, etc. No wonder Rihanna smashes the Eagles on that list!
