I know dick about oil refining, but if the purpose of the refineries we have has shifted it should be shifted back or more refineries built. There are millions of families whose budgets are shot to hell because of high energy prices, fixing that should be a top priority. It’s not.

And quit obsessing over my nuts.

If this is all true... $1 more per gallon of gas, slight increases in groceries, etc... have "shot to hell" so many families' budgets in just 2 short years, how is it possible trump presided over "the greatest economy the world has ever seen", as he loved to erroneously claim all the time?

Lol. Doesn't sound like his economy was working for too many people if these slight price increases have all these budgets "shot to hell". I'm sure his rich friends are fine, but what does it say about the economy if these small increases have so many people in dire straits?

Somebody's lying. Probably trump.

Yes, it does, and it’s not only gasoline. People here wear rose colored glasses. We’re fortunate enough to give more to some skank to take her cloths off than many people make in a week. A few hundred bucks a month can make a HUGE difference in the lives of people living on the edge, and there’s a metric fuck ton of them out there. Making their lives miserable with idiotic energy policy is the opposite of compassion, especially when done to purportedly assuage unfounded fear.

Exactly. Hard to believe someone thinks the highest inflation in 50 year thanks to Senile Biden and the leftists would have no impact on a lot of families budgets. But then I consider the source

Apparently he has no clue how many families in the country live paycheck to paycheck and what the high price of gas, food, shelter, etc does to them

We're still waiting on you to address refining capacity and allocations, berry. You've omitted connecting those dots in any meaningful way and ignored its impact on inflation or the price at the pump, including the trends that began under Trump or which Trump did nothing to change.

You're demonstrating clearly the exact principle being laid out in the OP in terms of one-sided fantasy.

And you're trying to move goal posts from earlier positions by shifting the focus the premium blends so you can peg the price up over $4 instead of the cost the majority of consumers actually pay.

This is also a good chart to consider for the folks who want to look at historical context without the need foe extreme hyperbole about the state of the SPR.

And let's not forget that the Biden administration worked with Congress to cancel the congressional mandated sales from the SPR (almost 147 million barrels), working them into Ukraine spending authorizations.

And then there's this article

Thanks for answering my question. The economy was never that great under trump. For it to all unravel so quickly is the proof.

That’s what happens when you replace competent stewardship with incompetent stewardship.

The guy you think was a competent steward had the wheels fall off. His house of cards started to fall during COVID and he was the president under which total debt was allowed to exceed our total assets for the first time in history.

He also massively failed in reducing the debt. He ran on reducing it and ended up with the 3rd largest increase in debt in history.

Refineries began reducing investment under him. Switching their focus and ops which lead to eliminating capacity. Shuttering facilities, which lead to eliminating capacity which left us unprepared for the bounce back.

Off topic so edited. Hopefully we get back to Trumpian energy policy sooner or later.

Trumpian energy policy is still being carried out in large part.

We're in tbe top 3 oil producers. We have more refinery capacity than most. We export more than we import. And despite the energy independence line of shit you were sold (our refining and exports are still reliant on crude oil from elsewhere, like Canada) we're still closer to independent than we are fully import dependent.

But cheap oil is also a problem because it inhibits investment and stifles growth in most of the associated categories tied to exploration, drilling, extraction, transportation, refining, etc.

It impacts whether we drill or buy someone else's oil. And a lot of your gas prices were the result of buying cheap foreign oil. Only some of which was Russian. But cheap and in some cases, lower quality oil can also be more expensive to transport and refine.

So... moral of the story. You have to give Biden some credit for the successes and failure. And you can't just say Trump did things right, because he didn't. His policies helped some portions of the industry at the expense of others. So again, he owns some success and some failure.

Nobody really cares what oil is at, besides people who play the market. People will give Biden credit when the price at the gas pump drops at least $1/gallon.
