Gender Reassignment Surgerty: Medical Procedure or Mutilation?

When gender reassignment surgery is performed, on males or females, the external genitalia are irrevocably removed; breasts, Testis and penis for instance.

Similar procedures have been done for centuries on females in other cultures in the under-developed world. The labia and clitoris are removed, often crudely, and in a non-clinical setting. In the developed countries, this practice has been criticized and characterized as mutilation.

Ignoring cultural differences, how is sex reassignment surgery as currently practiced, not mutilation? Especially when performed on a minor?

That's easy.


Particularly with female genital mutilation-- the girls are taken by force to have it done-- often with sharpened stones and no real medical treatment. It is not by choice, it is by force. They do not have a say in having it done.



Sex change surgery? Its by choice-- and generally requires at least a year of counseling and at least a couple years of HRT before permanent surgical options are available. Do you consider it mutilation when your favorite provider opts to get a boob job or lipo or botox?

There’s no such thing as sex change surgery. Chopping of a guys dick or a girls tits doesn’t change their sex. The pharmaceutical and plastic surgery industries certainly thank you though, for feeding a psychosis that often times ends up with the person you’re “affirming” swinging from a rope.

Tats are mutilation as well as unusual piercing.
IMO 1 or 2 holes in the ear lobe is ok. Anymore or anywhere else is mutilation.
