Just as khun said, the best way to go about it is to research things for yourself. There is a wealth of information available, but unfortunately it is all over the place. I can however tell you that anything that requires you to pay for information is fake. I found a few of those while researching my trip.
ISF forum, pattaya-addicts forums are great.
Buzzin Pattaya and everything Pattaya on youtube are really good channels that show walkabouts of the area
