I was trying to think of another county that was not a member of NATO that was possibly is having second thoughts. That is a good one.
And it is an example of history repeating itself. The Winter War had Finland giving up land to Russia. *Though* they had their sovereignty recognized.

We've been doing it.
That will stop when A.) China calls in it's IOU. or B.) We pay it off.
Been that way for quite awhile.

So true.
But there are some that have demonstrated the ability to commit to an open dialogue.
It's easy to spot the one that are closed minded. The hurling of expletives and insults is a good indicator.
But that is one of the advantages of the good ol' U.S. of A. We have the freedom to armchair warrior on a hooker board.
BTW, No one has answered a question I posted about how would they have stopped the situation in Ukraine in the first place. They seemed fixated on the time period of the current administration and policies of said.

They offer no solutions. Only:
:"We provided Ukraine weapons too."
"What about Hunter ?"
"Trump didn't cause NATO to weaken during his administration."

Considering the continuing size of our National debt and interest rates that will be rising for the foreseeable future, option B is nonexistent. Or as the below poster said:

Thought I did already (maybe on another thread) I will repeat it for the hard of hearing: Orange Man Good
And for the critically and mentally impaired: Ukraine did not get invaded by Russia,Russia, Russia under Trump 1.0

And 9/11 didn't happen under the Clinton administration but many on the right would argue that the Clinton administration laid the groundwork.
What say you?

We should not have kept making noises about the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO. That was like waving a fucking red flag in front of a bull.
At the very least, we should have waited until Putin was gone (and replaced by a leader less hostile to the West) before talking about the subject. Especially since Ukraine is on Russia's doorstep, deeply intertwined in Russian history, and we knew we wouldn't go to war to defend it.
History doesn't give us do-overs when we fuck up. We need to focus on what to do now. Historians can explain how and why it happened later. But it will probably sound something like this:
"The Russian invasion of Ukraine resulted from two immense strategic blunders... The first came on Nov. 10, when the U.S. and Ukraine signed a Charter on Strategic Partnership, which asserted America’s support for Kyiv’s right to pursue membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The pact made it likelier than ever that Ukraine would eventually join NATO—an intolerable prospect for Vladimir Putin."
"The second strategic error was Mr. Putin’s underestimation of his rivals..."

I know you're a crank stretcher, but t-h-a-t far?
I think that is a bit of stretch, even for you, that you could only reach if you are trying to say GW Bush was as incompetent as F Joe Biden and Billy-boy was as America First and Trump 1.0. We know for fact certain that Billy was more Billy BJs first than anything.
But the other stark contrast was even Billy-boy was already hunting for Bin Laden (with good reason) and maybe hesitated to pull the trigger on his way out the door, with several missing keys from the WH keyboards. Plus it is usually considered bad form to start a major war on your way out the door, as surely would have been the case if Billy-boy tried to axe a Saudi National without their express permission. Plus it seems Billy-boy didn't even have much of a working relationship with Sudan at the time. I suspect that, to this day, Billy still regrets not getting Osama under his watch.
