Unless there is an ability to retreat (NY law) putting someone in reasonable fear for their life or serious bodily harm permits responding with deadly force. That said, a DGU is the last thing any reasonable person would ever want, myself included. However, I still have people who want me to come home, so if it came down to it, yes.

Note that in my original post I was asking people with concealed carry permits. Open carrying sidearms is not legal in NY. And agreed, brandishing in any neighborhood is only going to bring trouble.

Hey thanks all you ladies & mongers. I appreciate the direct exchange of ideas on a topic that is all too emotionally-charged these days. Guess I'll leave the iron home on hobbying trips. But if I get whacked I'm haunting you all!

What I like about this thread is although the ladies agreed as do I that the hobby and guns don’t mix. They also did not come out and bash guns in general. They are some cool women. Thanks ladies

If I have to carry to the date......... then I don't want to be there in the first place.........Yes if faced with someone taking my money with a knife or a bat......yes I am showing them the business end of my weapon and will use it if I have too. That said everyone will know by 6pm news that rounds were exchanged, there is at least one person dead, and I was in a location known for..........fill in the blank.........if I need a weapon......and I use it........then my $175 date........just went to $50K..........no thanks, I will go see a $300 where I don't need too carry.

I am damn impressed with you folks. Seriously.
I would just add one thing, and it is a bit of an expansion on what soldierboy said about being on the 6PM news and the ordeal ends up costing you $50K:
Your life is gonna be seriously fucked up if you use a gun in any circumstance like this, even if you are completely justified and no charges are ultimately filed. It's gonna suck, plain and simple. You're gonna wish you had never been there and wonder WTF you were thinckin....

Bottom line, guns and hobbying do not mix. If you bring it, pull it you better use it or you could end up like the woman last name Morales in FL. She pulled it apparently to frighten but the other guy had another idea. Morales is DOA. As some of your former favorite radio personalities Kimberly and Beck used to say - Don’t Be Stupid.

Mine is as much a part of my wardrobe as my underwear and socks. Why would you get a conceal carry permit if you are not going to carry? Same thing when it comes to whether or not it is ready to fire. Always have one in the chamber. Those split seconds can cost you your life.
As far as hobbying and guns. Just like anything else why would you go to a place or put yourself in a place where you did not feel safe? Period. I do not do too many outcalls. But like I said if I am dressed outside of my home it is on my side. If I sense anyone else is in the residence I leave or ask to see them first. If the providers I have seen for outcall have noticed it they have never said anything and I have never been asked to leave. Nobody should ever see or know you are carrying.
If something ever happened on a call where I felt the need to present my weapon you can bet it would be for good reason. It never comes out of my holster unless it is to be cleaned, stored, or fired. It is not a show piece. Those that mention problems like reputations and monetary issues that may arise from you ever using your weapon remember this. It is better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6!
I will leave with this. If you are going somewhere you think you may need your weapon then DON'T GO! There isn't a pussy that golden in the universe.

Niki is quite on spot.
Besides how are you going to have fun if you're worrying about stuff.
Pick a reputable gal in a decent part if town and just have fun.
