I can agree with this to a certain extent (not the retarded part obviously). IMO the Texas bill does a good job delineating the difference between embryo and baby, defining it as a baby when there’s a determinable heartbeat. That’s how we determine dead, makes perfect sense that it would also determine alive.

It’s alive from the time it’s conceived. However that doesn’t make it viable. Which is when I would consider it a “baby”. Just because it has a heartbeat doesn’t really imply anything except that in the formation process a heart has developed. What’s not developed are a whole lot of other organs necessary for it survive with even the most advanced equipment at our disposal. Heartbeat doesn’t denote viability.
