If you want an ally to survive in a tough, strategic neighborhood, you help them survive. If you don't, you no longer have that strategic ally in that part of the world. Israel is worth saving, Palestinians and their terrorist sponsor, not so much.


The same reason we shouldn't be leaving Afghanistan completely, it is strategically important. If we leave Afghanistan completely, there will be nobody there to service the Afghanistan Air Force which will mean the end of any chance of keeping the Taliban at bay.


Of course we should not be sending American soldiers out on patrol, we should have stopped that 20 years ago but keeping an functioning air base is worth staying IMHO.
