Pfizer did have a contract to sell the government millions of doses, once the vaccine was granted emergency use authorization. But, unlike Moderna, did not accept any government funding for R&D, instead risking their private funds to underwrite that cost.
I specifically said R&D funding, so stand by my statement.

You and Pfizer are using semantics. Pfizer got an equal amount to Moderna. If Trump didn’t stroke them a check in advance of them being approved, it would have slowed things down.

Uh, Trump did everything he could to downplay the pandemic. That happened in real time before our very eyes.
Medicine did what it always does; rise to the occasion.
Trump didn't lead the effort - it happened in spite of him and his witch doctors - and he sure didn't lead us.
Otherwise, we wouldn't be debating common sense issues like wearing masks, social distancing and whining less.
