I suppose there was a time when an escort was for a date and not expected to do bcd activities. But it was More for the single upper class people that attended formals. Funny how the definition of a word can change over time. I think though, this dinner idea would be more for a single person yet today

I think demographics play a role in this. Kansas City is a like a big little city... it’s not as easy to be anonymous here as say nyc.
