Default Or was that day before yesterday?

I remember like it was yesterday that Elon Musk was bragging about how Ford did take any TARRP money...

You're right. You might laugh at this one. I'll start out by saying I've never in all my years of driving have owned a foreign car brand. I've always had Ford (Mustang) and Pontiac. In 2008 I bought a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix with a Supercharged 3.8 V6. I drove that car for thirteen years and racked up a little over 130,000 miles on it. For about the last five years it has become a money pit a big one. The last week of February I traded it in. Guess what I traded it in for? Yep a rice burner a 2015 Acura TLX with about 44,000 miles on it. Anything can happen to any car and of course as cars age things need to be repaired or replaced, but all I ever heard was buy Toyota, Honda, Nissan. So I gave the foreign market a shot, we'll see.

Most cars are up to 80% foreign parts anyway. It varies a lot in that percentage. Final assembly is just a small piece of the supply chain.

It's the design of American cars. For instance the 07 Grand Prix I once owned had plastic elbows that were attached to the engine and were inserted into the tensioner pulley assembly from there they were attached to the heater hoses. Poor design hot metal and hot liquid going through plastic doesn't hold up well under those conditions so they are notorious for failure, mine did at about 50,000 miles. GM later approved an Aluminum Elbow made by a Company called Dorman Products. Parts can be made anywhere that's not what determines it's longevity it's the design that counts. GM and Ford both try to save money by cutting corners by using inferior material and poorly designed parts. Most Toyota's and Honda's are assembled here in the United States but their design and specs originated in Japan.

The process is so robotic now that a domestic car company like Ford would seem to do better if they bragged their vehicles are made domestically and kept the jobs here in the states. Their core customers care about that. They want American made, many will frown on Mexican made.

I don't give a shit where my cars are made but I always buy foreign cars. Many people who only believe in buying American cars and buy Fords don't want them made and shipped from Mexico. Ford will definitely save on costs but they will lose business. It's not a smart move.

Ford parts & components have been coming out of Mexico since before you graduated from your Ivy League enlightenment. Do you mean to tell me that in all of your business-know-it-all in Texas you've never represented anyone who had their products manufactured in Mexico and then carted across the border to be shipped inland to U.S. markets? You need to "get out more"!

Are you certain all the parts of your Henrys are domestic products?

I find it strange that all our "get government out of the free market " posters want government now to punish a company that operates in a global market.

I'll not derail the thread but our two biggest car rivals, Japan and Germany....we propped up after WWII.

So called Socialized countries (if you go by our posters health care posts). Strange how we set other countries up with a more efficient health care system than here.

Those countries trans national companies do not have as high of healthcare costs...blah blah blah

Which cars are NOT assembled in the US? I know they have BMW, Toyota and Nissan plants here. Is used to be you could tell because the cars assembled in Japan had a VIN starting with a 'J'.

Honestly I couldn't tell you who owns Chrysler now. Fiat?

But the Globalists are back in charge, for now. American not first for much longer. Except in national debt.

Yea car companies are globally assembled. Who know who did what, where.

Reagan blew out the debt. Then Bush got booted for actually doing the right thing and raising taxes. Clinton benefited and had low oil prices and a booming tech market.

Then it has been debt, debt and more debt starting with Bush junior, Obama , Trump was on steroids with debt and Biden is going all in on debt too!

I still and will alwa6blame Ronnie!

A buddy of mine drives a Ford 350 Super Duty truck for his business. He is a Trump lover so he is already pissed. I just laughed at him and said who the fuck cares where your truck was assembled as long as it doesn't break down and you can get from Point A to Point B. Fucker called me unamerican. I just laughed and asked him if he needed a hug or should I just buy him a comfort dog to help him with his sadness.

Sorry WTF, I had to give gnafly a like. You know that was funny. I stick to my rules - if you make me laugh, you always get a like from me.

People who insult me or anyone else who make me laugh, I can't hit the "like" button fast enough. I stick to my code. Folks should always stick to their silly whore board code no matter what.
