That $15 minimum wage is stupid. Many lowed skilled workers are going to be laid off and collecting welfare. I'm not really sure how that is a boost to the economy or lowering this country's debt balance. Unless the goal is to tax the shit out of people who make X amount of dollars or print more money, this bankrupt country doesn't have the money for that. You don't have to be an expert in Macroeconomics to know that is a really bad idea.
Furthermore, how much is the crime rate going to increase? Desperate people do desperate things to survive. That desperation increases substantially when you feel like you are unemployable and you decide you just don't give a fuck anymore so you have to do whatever it takes for your family to eat and have a roof over their head.

How is doubling the minimum wage a good idea?
I dont really know anyone that thinks they are making what they thought they should. Most people think theyre under paid.
If this passes it will have a domino effect resulting in most occupations seeking more money!
This is not good for consumers or businesses. Ultimately it will lead to higher costs everywhere especially to the cost of living. This effects everyone! It especially effects the ones getting the higher minimum wage. Its circular and bad!

It's a great idea if at the same time THE STATE gets a HUGE POP of federal funding to GRANT the new BUSINESSES operating cash.
Some of you may not recall (or were even born) when the Clinton Administration pushed through funding to get 600,000 more police officers on the street and tied it to college educated officers.
The agencies merely took existing officers from desk jobs and put them "on the street" .... A PROBLEM: The agencies/departments had to buy new patrol units so the "NEW" officers could "work the street" ... There was no funding in the bill for "equipment" ...
... most of these "people" voting on this shit have never run or owned a business .... they've been leaving off the government tit.
Gnad ... the "$1,500" will be applied to the payment of your tax bill for 2020 .... so if at the end of the filing process one owes $1,300 then you'll get a refund of $200. Look forward to a lot of IRS recalculations on deductions and math.

You're just arrogant and pompous. My point of using my brother is he got a letter from the IRS saying he would get his check in March or May.
Biden PROMISED the check. Some people demand that the politicians keep their promises.

During a Monday rally in Atlanta, Biden said the payments would "go out the door immediately" if Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock win the state's U.S. Senate seats, saying their victories would "put an end to the block in Washington" on approving the $2,000 payments.

If you believe I am arrogant and pompous because I believe people should get off their asses and work as much as possible if they give a shit about $2K which puts this country further in debt and raises inflation so be it.
Perhaps you should be a big proponent of AOC, Bernie Sanders or Warren. They believe in handouts. I don't want any money from the government. I'll continue to work my ass off and go earn money on my own so they don't have to send me shit. That's not being arrogant or pompous. That's just what I believe because of how I was raised.

It's not. That's the point of it. If a business can afford to hire at that rate it merely raises the costs of their product/services and pass the increase to the consumers of their product/services.
Those who cannot afford to consume simply do without or seek government assistance .... or turn to Oriental country product/services for their needs/desires.
Note: There will be no requirement that only goods and services from overseas will be accepted if the overseas company pays $15 an hour. Walmart et all will still be in business, but their U.S. employees will have to be paid $15 an hour .... for their 20 hour a week jobs with NO BENEFITS ... so they get GOVERNMENT INSURANCE.

... you are irrespective of why. It's usually insecurity that cause people to be arrogant and pompous.
Their offensive behavior is an effort to overcome their real feelings.

First off, your brother didn't get a letter promising a check in March or May (why not April?) from the IRS. Did you get a letter about that? I didn't.
Do you really wonder where the checks are at? At the beginning of the thread, you didn't even understand how much they should be for.
Since the bill passed the house on Saturday, that "letter from the IRS" your brother got is probably right.
Since your brother got a letter telling you when (today is the first of March), why are you still complaining?

I live in a city of 15,000 in NYS and we have $15 minimum wage here for Fast food workers, it made everyone charge $15 since there are help wanted signs from end to end in my city, we have more jobs than people...
Your totally wrong on $15 minimum wage, if my city can sustain the hit of $15 an hour wages, any city in USA can.

Its a tax credit, before you file, this assumption it will be held to pay tax obligations is false, unless you filed your tax return already, and typically those who owe, do not file until april 15th.
I'm enjoying people's opinions in this thread that are based on information so old and out dated or just plain off the top of their head, what they think it means... lol... be like filming 6th graders and listen to their stories.

News flash genius this is Trumps economy. An economy that is much worse than the one that dumbass inherited. Funny how he tried to take credit for the strong economy he inherited and here he and his followers are trying to blame the weak economy he left on someone else. Are Trumpanzees really this blind, deaf, and dumb??
