Did you know that the Carnegie Museum of natural history once was thought to have on exhibit the largest dinosaur skeleton ever intact and on display?
Well, that was until a small child pointed out that they had assembled parts of two different dinosaurs by mistake.

Was that in PGH? I remember watching something on TV about that kid. He also pointed out a conquistador was wearing a morion from a different time period.

Transit systems and museums are two of my favorite things. The Electric City Trolley Museum seems really neat. In the future, I'll be in Pennsylvania more. Thanks for assembling this list.

Are you yinzers getting free museum admission tomorrow (Saturday?). I think I read it was some Smithsonian-sponsored thing to get more people into museums or a national museum day or whatnot.

I thought I read it was a nationwide thing - I know there is a list of about 20 museums in Indiana that are offering free admission.

That's the one.
Mom worked at the museum at the time and it was became a long running inside joke.

Also
A visit to the Burgh wouldn't be complete without a stop at
Randyland.
Sort of a museum set up by one guy with an eclectic sense of humor.

There are a series of hallways between the Carnegie Museum and the Carnegie Library in the same building that one can conceivably use to always enter the museum for free.
Only trick is to find the correct wall panel to push aside. LOLOL

I seriously used to spend most of my weekends there as a pre-teen and teen, took some classes but mostly just enjoying the exhibits.
( Long before mom worked there, no fees when she did. For the museum, Pgh playhouse or any Carnegie endeavor.)

That is very interesting. Love to hear about and get in on these. Last week I had the pleasure of visiting the Russell Salvatore’s veteran park memorial. That man is in his 90’s and involved in the community as well as his restaurant and hotel, watched him taste test breakfast one morning and also drag chairs from the hall to the reception area. Already has his mausoleum built with his life’s story on the side located in his memorial park.

There's something akin to it in Pittsburgh over the next few weeks.

Thank you for the link and it's wonderful they are offering free tours... Unfortunately it looks like I will have to pay full price unless they offer Military discounts. Does anyone know places that may honor service members?
