^^True.
However what are the odds they take 2 of 4 in denver when they had the best home record? Sat's game should be interesting.

Anyone here seriously think the Spurs could take this series to 7 games? ..... good luck to them in Denver, they stole game 1 there so maybe?? ..... just please don't blow any more 19 point leads ..... if they can keep Godzilla from scoring 55 points that would help their chances too .....

2 first round draft picks this year, hope they use them wisely on a couple of NBA ready players and not some projects that are 3 years away from being ready ..... a Danny Green clone and a good shot-blocking, defensive specialist center would be nice ..... but they'll probably draft 2 guys from Lithuania whose names we can't pronounce .....

Popp was quoted as saying "whole new team next year." Not if he remains coach. He said they were "ready to run" with Dejounte before this season started. He gets hurt. So what? You couldn't run with any of the other point guards? What a crock of crap. You're gonna see the same sh!t next year - dump in to Lamarcus and Derozan trying to play hero.
After Dee White had that 36 point game in game 3, he scored 8, 12, 13 and 4. Nugget defense? Doubt it. Coach "reigning" him in cause he's too young to play (and get paid) like an all-star. So tired of the coach's crap.

Suppose I'll close this one out...
Hell of an up and down season for sure. Moments of thinking that we were the worst team in the NBA to other moments thinking we actually had a shot to compete in the playoffs.
Best Game hands down was beating Kawhi here in San Antonio. The crowd intensity was amazing, the play of our team was outstanding, and to win against him had a feeling of some closure. Truly a remarkable game, never seen our crowd like that, wish they were like that all the time. As with the intensity of our team, which lacked most of the year especially on the road. Need many more games like that one if we are to get to another level.
Season came to an end at Denver in a 7 game series. Unfortunately for us, we were without our starting PG who I think could have been a difference maker, especially defensively where we lacked all season. Only time will tell next year. The fact we actually made the playoffs after losing a top 3 player in the NBA in Kawhi, losing Green and Manu defensively along with Kyle Anderson hurt a lot. Our offense improved dramatically, just could not close anyone out on the other end which showed in the Denver series. Hopefully with Murray back and Lonnie ready to go for more minutes, we can shore up that defense. It will be a process before we can get to a championship though, replacing Kawhi will not be easy or done in a short period. Hopefully sooner than later as we are one or two guys from making things happen.
Manu's retirement ceremony was something of note. Check it out on YouTube if you missed it. Timmy had the best speech hands down.
Pop resigned for 3 more years on a deal which surprised the whole league. Shockingly enough seeing how our whole roster is pretty much wiped after next year, everyone was anticipating either Hammond or someone else entirely to take over. Only returning players after next year will be Murray, Walker, and White (less or course they extend anyone else during this next year which I honestly hope they part ways from quite a few guys). Those guys I named above are the future to build around though, much like the team who beat us young core looks in Denver. With Pop around and a young core, will look forward to next season to see which direction we go in the draft with 2 1st round picks and some cap room in free agency with the departure of a few guys in Pau Gasol as with others who only signed 1 year deals this year.
Will start a new thread sometime during the draft for the next season...
Until 2019-2020....
This one is done...
Please close this thread.

Well, that's the end of that.
With the pelicans likely to team up Zion with Anthony Davis, they will likely rule that division for the next 10 years.
So put a fork in the Spurs - they are DONE.

Popovich and staff continue to look like idiots...
For claiming to be a "defnsive-minded" coach, he lets Kawhi and Green go per trade. Might it have been better to just have kept Kawhi, let him sit out this season, and then let him walk this summer? Obviously if Kawhi can take down golden state there's something to be said here. Sure they had injuries but the main part of playing is the trophy and ring - no matter how you get it.
NOW, the pelicans raped the lakers to get rid of Anthony Davis. And all the Spurs could get for Kawhi was a draft pick and obviously 2 guys toronto didn't need anymore - especially with Leonard supposedly the best 2-way player in the league and AD not being able to stay healthy during his career thus far?
Wow. What happened to the spurs brass brain-trust? Apparently they were ALL riding Duncan's coattails - just like phil jackson did with MJ/Kobe/Shaq.
Is this the end of the franchise? I would not be surprised if they leave SA at some point in the future.

Welcome to the rebuild...
Not sure why it's the end. Or...The End was two years ago after Timmy retired then the following year Kawhi decided he wanted out for various reasons. Injury mishandled, wanted more money from sponsors since Spurs don't let players get sponsors here, had beef with LA, etc...
So really, last year was truly the beginning of a new era with no big 3 on the team, and no Kawhi to keep the Dynasty alive...
Spurs were one win away without our starting PG last year to playing Portland, who I think we could have had an easier time with than Denver since Portland doesn't have a guy like Joker and we have better guard D than Denver had (White and Murray are solid). Had we played Portland with a healthy Murray, we maybe face a Durantless W's in the WCF who again, with our guys would have given them problems with LA, Rudy and Demar getting to the basket. We are maybe one or two guys away from being pretty decent, and Lonnie will get more playing time this next year. Not to mention two first round picks this year with a 19th in a semi deep draft may end up being pretty good for us. It's a rebuild, and takes time. Big 3 and Kawhi are gone. We will need to replace LA and Demar eventually, but until then we will build young guys around them. In three to six years if we still suck, then start worrying. It was a hell of a ride to get 5 rings, and took a while to build it. Now, it may take a bit to get it rolling again as we lack talent (pretty much need a top ten player or two these days). Need to find the next Kawhi, or even better, Timmy.
What bothers me as a fan, is while other teams make trades and moves in order to win for one season (Rockets, Raptors, Bucks, Warriors, Lakers etc), the Spurs don't do anything and rely almost exclusively on the draft to bring in new players. Sure, we get a few vets here and there in free agency but none that are game changing talents. Hell, most rode the bench as they became ineffective late in the season ie Cunningham, Pondexter. Even Bertans sat the bench which worried me against the Nuggets.

I now have a different take on Kawhi. I was pretty disgusted with him, but now believe he or whose with him had brilliant business sense and the SPURS not so. Kawhi gets hurt. In six months the docs say he can play. He gets a second opinion saying wait for more healing. SPURS do not listen. Bad vibes happen. After a year off, Kawhi heals and plays and becomes MVP. 5 year, 200 Million deal possible. Kevin Durant has injury. He heals and docs say he can play, although only minimum time to heal has occurred. He gets hurt. His 5 year, 200 million deal likely down the toilet. Playing a few games when you are not thoroughly healed as time has dictated in the past is foolish at best. As a result, I am sure Kawhi made a brilliant decision and the SPURS blew it. Hope something was learned from this episode.
