Is making homophobic comments as an insult really still a thing? You'd think that in a community like this, people would be a little more open-minded and accepting.

Quite frankly, it isn't just offensive, it's down right trashy. The people I know and socialize with don't throw out derogatory slurs. Not because they are "politically correct" but merely because they are POLITE, successful, productive members of society who know that sort of talk only would make them seem low class. I don't get it.

In reality, I don’t care about you enough to want you to have my things. My socialism is in my home and ends there. It can work for small groups with a tight knit common cause. It never works for the masses. Here is why- it’s not real complicated or hard to grasp. I will never give the product of my efforts, cash, to a nameless stranger. I have a duty to care for by neighbor that flows from my Judeo-Christian heritage, and that duty is inextricably bound to the rights afforded me my my creator. If you notice, the obligations that we have have been removed. If one has no moral grounding, through a belief system, then he tends to make one that is the State. President Obama was an example of one of these. It is what most European politicians are as well.
A Muslim or a Buddhist, or a Baptist or Jew is an individual. If this individual in question had hate, I as white don’t have more taint than a brown person. That is one heck of a stretch. If all folks that look like me act this way, than the data would make me look for causality. But the bottom line is this, as I see it: this sick person needed to have his hate be checked my his moral grounding. If he has no grounding, all of which ultimately are based in faith, than why isn’t he able to do whatever he wants, following whichever hateful impulse that reaches his consciousness. You see, when duty is removed from rights, we see that society has to step in and create good and evil. Those become chosen as what is good for the group. Thus, Socialized Medicine, Nanny State, and other big government ideas that all just take away freedom. My faith heritage is one in which my creator loved my so much individually that he allows me the self determination and free will to reject him. I do not. Because we all know it doesn’t end when we die. We all see it when loved ones reach the end. Folks, we are forever. We are here a trinkling and gone. A twinkle, and then poof, passed on. On is where the duties come from. I am to care for my brother. This encluded brothers in the mosque. It’s so simple. This sick person was sick. Let us never say his name. Let hate be nameless. We recognize it.
I don’t care enough about you reading this to even care what you are thinking. I hope for you the best, but I open my home to be run with socialism, to each according to his need, but I don’t use this system for all of society. I have a duty to try to protect society from this nameless person, but there is hate. It illustrates why we need to love.
So much is hard to understand. This seems to be easy. In my hometown, the Tree of Life Congregation is praying for and standing in solidarity with the poor folks suffering from this lost souls actions.
So: let us define terms so we may debate ideas. Let us not use labels to devide one another. Let us say to one another, “live however you want.” “Just don’t demand of me to underwrite your ideas.”
I don’t force you to make a cake for the gay couple if you don’t want to. Don’t make me pay for your abortion. Free people with rights and duties. The duties that flow from our belief system. Our systems allow for individuality.
Our founders were considering all of these simple realities that all of us still face. Does the state come and at the end of a gun direct action of you, or do we try to limit the scope of government and allow people to chose how they react to the adventures that life brings to them. The later seems so much more attractive to me.
