What's a couple good things to do while visiting vegas??

Also what areas should I stay away from?

This is a very broad question. What are your likes? Do you want to stay on the strip and be a tourist or explore real Vegas? If you have or can get a car visiting Red Rock and Mount Charleston is a wonderful adventure, especially visiting from flat Louisiana.

If you want to be a tourist, recommend you visit Bellagio and Wynn for some fun cheap views. Both have flower showcases and displays that are a visual spectacle. If you have a bigger budget a helicopter ride to Grand Canyon West is a fun (expensive) trip.

If you can be more specific some other locals can provide better recommendations.

If you’re coming to provide company I would recommend staying centrally located. Aka close to the strip. I would stay away from the east and north side however.
