Default Female sexuality has value, while male sexuality has little to no value

Female sexuality has value, while male sexuality has little to no value.

This was a topic, I recently explored, in a conversation with Bren. She is organizing a small group interested in improving their conversational skills. The topic, for much of our conversation, came from an article that reviewed research supporting the view that in almost all cultures female sexuality has value and male sexuality has little to no value. Using an economic or social exchange model, women have something of sexual value. In return, men must acquire and provide resources in order to have access to female sexuality.

Bren also provided an interesting structure for exploring and improving conversational skills. We reviewed aspects of good conversation, in the abstract, and also explored concrete examples. An enjoyable overlap developed between conversational skills and how they helped us explore notions of male and female sexual value. Bren provides an enjoyable experience that includes developing conversational skills and exploring interesting information about female and male interactions. She has a brochure with contact and further information at the following link:

Read the brochure and could not understand what is going on.
I guess I failed reading comprehension on the way to conversation.
I'm doomed to stay home and not talk or email to anyone.

Default Female sexuality has value, while male sexuality has little to no value.

dallaswill, thanks for reading the brochure. I helped Bren write the brochure, so please let me know if there are any specific questions about it.

Bren and I recently had an enjoyable conversation about the topic that “Female sexuality has value, while male sexuality has little to no value,” We explored some research by Clark and Hatfield (1989), in which research confederates approached attractive members of the opposite sex on a college campus with an invitation to have sexual intercourse that same evening. Three fourths of the male students agreed to have sex with the female research confederates, while none of the female students agreed to have sex with the male research confederates. From an economic point of view, the offer of intercourse was like a proposal for no-cost sex. The difference in gender roles was like that between any buyers and sellers. A suggestion that cars should be free, for example, would lead to similar results; almost all car dealers would say no and nearly all buyers would be in favor. This finding fit the view that in sex, women correspond to sellers of something of value and men to buyers.

The above topic was not only interesting to discuss on its own merits, but Bren and I also explored some useful conversation skills in the process.

It's a very old and comic theory that women need a reason to have sex, while men just need a place. Whether we want to admit it or not, as much as those of us on this forum simply enjoy sex, the fact is that sex is primarily intended for human reproduction.

There have been many studies done from anthropological, biological, sociological, socio-economic, reproductive, religious and a multitude of other angles. There have been some so called "universal truths" shared by many of the studies. While I can't recall the authors or titles at the moment (blame the TX Whiskey) I do remember several key findings:

Men are preprogramed thought millions of years of biology and anthropology to reproduce as often as possible throughout their reproductive life - basically age 14 til death, most men are able to produce sperm-donor (even if they can't keep it up). Let's face it, in the words of the immortal Ron White, "Once you've seen one woman naked...you want to see them all naked." Given the opportunity, many if not most heterosexual men are less than discriminating when it comes to zex.

Women, on the other hand, are preprogramed with a more economic approach to reproduction. The reproductive life cycle of a woman is determined before she is born. The number of eggs is set prior to her birth and nothing can increase that number. Women are inately driven by forces related to finding the best possible genetic match, the best provider, the best protector...it's economics, muscles and sex appeal. Women are programed to be discriminating when it comes to sex.

There is also a chemical/hormonal influence that we often fail to acknowledge. Men have a chemical trigger that hits the bran about 24 to 36 hours after orgasm (average refractory period for a full recharge in the cannon) That trigger tells the brain that the tank is full and you are ready for action. Women have no such trigger after sex. Their trigger is much more complex and is closely linked to the compounderlying called oxytocin - the same chemical that creates feelings of love, affection, closeness...that warm glow we get from pillow talk or having great conversation with someone who really cares.

It can make the game much more challenging for men and much easier for women. That's why well paid gigolos are rare but in high demand while female companions are much more widely available yet still in high demand.

Peace all...j

That line reminds me of a sit-com I was watching awhile back. I don't remember which one but the man and women were talking. The guy asked her "why don't you just use sex to get what you want. You're good at that!". She came back with something about men being able to use sex to get what they want too. He responded with "How can men use sex to get what we want? Sex IS what we want!!".

I thought I'd saved my mid-1970s college text I read this from but now I can't find it. I think it was in the Sociology text. Here goes from memory.
There was an experiment in a college that taught chimps how to use money.
Step 1. The researchers showed this group of chimps in their lab a wheel, which when turned a certain number of times produced a piece of food. The chimps caught on fast.
Step 2. The researchers introduced a vending machine into the chimps environment and now instead of food the wheel dispensed a coin token, which when put into the vending machine dispensed the food.
Result: The chimps caught on to the new system readily, but after a while the female chimps productivity fell of and then nosed dived. The male chimps productivity on the other hand picked up the slack and then they started turning the wheel like crazy. The researchers were baffled.
The secret: One night one of the researchers had to go back to the lab at night to retrieve something he forgot. He discovered why the females stopped working and the males were working themselves so hard. The females were having sex with the males in exchange for the food.
My questions: who's idea was it to exchange sex for food? The males chimps or the female chimps? Why wait for nightfall to make the exchange?
Final question: How old IS the 'oldest profession'?
