Factually wrong! They were strapped up to whipping posts and whipped just as black slaves were. Some of them were whipped by black overseers. Where did you get your history degree ... from a box of Cracker Jacks?

repeated again
Slavery at any time in history is shitty. There have been some cultures that avoided slavery because they recognized it as wrong. Many Native American tribes practiced slavery. They were fucking wrong. It has nothing to do with race, by the way. All races have been equally fucked up regarding slavery. In our society -today- we have come to recognize that not only is slavery shitty but so is racism. Yep, racism is also stupid and shitty. As for the Democrats who defended slavery...what's the point being made? In the South many Democrats switched to Republican when the nation started its march toward civil rights. Those southern Dems didn't like civil rights or equal rights and that is what compelled them to switch parties. That's one key reason the South went from being Democrat to Republican.

Does one have to have a degree to know these things? Come on. I'm open to correction. Show me where I can learn what I got wrong.

Then if you had the balls you could go on to say. when those Dems finally came to accept those slaves were now free and able to vote they formed the KKK to terrorize and pressure blacks to vote Democratic, and it has stuck ever since.

Now that is an urban myth. After 1948 the Dixiecrat democrats wanted to stay in power. They stayed with the democrat party almost to a man. Of the democrats who tried to stop the 1964 civil rights act only two changed parties. Byrd, Fulbright, Gore, Faubus, and Wallace stayed democrat till the end.

A slave, who was supposed to be mixed race, was in reality the son of the late master swapped at birth by the slave mother. The "happy ending" was that the former master was now a slave being sold and the former slave was having to come to grips with being a person with rights and wealth.

that could be made into a movie!

Assup has issues with understanding. He thincks that him being a leftist is somehow patriotic and that recognizing people that were a part of a great civil conflict is somehow akin to being a Nazi.
Your leftist buddies are the ones that are the Nazi sympathizers. Your hero Soros that funds the leftist movement worked with the Nazis.
I personally do not hold up for praise the fathers of the Confederacy but neither do I choose to eliminate them from history. It is the Nazis that ostracized and shut down a whole race of people with help from so many Judases such as yourself and your hero Soros. The leftists are the ones trying to wipe out history and blaming conservatives for their own problems including those of what occurred almost 150 years ago. You are repeating what the Nazis did to the Jews with your intolerance and hate. You, who claims to be a jew should recognize this except for you are blinded by your leftist visions.
You are a sad and pathetic person. Your race should be ashamed of you.

I think the ones that switched were the ones outside of the party hierarchy.

urban myth? Hardly, barley.
Using the expression "urban myth" allows for the speaker to issue myths. Like you barley.
I suggest you read esteemed historians, not self-serving "urban myth" supporters. Why get so defensive? You're not a racist idiot, are you? Democratic Dixie, it is commonly understood, shifted with the civil rights movement. Your version is fake. Democrats -the Harvard & Ivy League-educated sector, were too damn comfortable with their racist fellow Dems in the South for way too long. It was a good thing the red-necks finally broke rank. It made the positions and philosophies more evident. Elitists and poorly-educated red-necks finally found their comfy, secure ground, on opposite hilltops, and they screamed at each other, and still do.
