The discount would have to be initiated by the provider though if they think someone deserves it, not the client asking for it EVER! Exactly. Physicans do it all the time. They have a constant stream of patients coming in, but they are reimbursed at varying levels for seeing a person for the same thing as the patient before them. The lady on Medicaid with the broken toe will see the Dr earn less than the lady with BCBS for the exact same condition. Now the Dr could refuse to see someone on Medicaid if they felt that the amount was too low, but it's a judgement call on determining if something is better than nothing monetarily. It comes down to earning potential and thresholds
