Keep looking the other way ...
Not like we haven't been at war with Germany before.
It's obvious that we are no longer the leaders of the free world.
Twitler is a fucking embarrassment.
SAD!

'Very bad for the US. This will change': Trump fires back at Germany, Merkel in tweet
President Donald Trump fired back Tuesday amid a wave of criticism from Germany, adding to apparently strained relations with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
"We have a MASSIVE trade deficit with Germany, plus they pay FAR LESS than they should on NATO & military," Trump tweeted. "Very bad for U.S. This will change."
The tweet comes following remarks by Merkel on Sunday that appeared to stress a need to pivot away from the US and the UK.
"The times in which we could fully rely on others are partly over. I have experienced this in the last few days," Merkel said at a campaign event in Germany. "We Europeans really have to take our destiny into our own hands."
Merkel reiterated the sentiment on Tuesday, saying that relations with the US were of "outstanding importance" but that Germany must also look elsewhere.
Trump's tweet reflects his frequent criticism of trade deficits. Trump has used trade deficits with China, Mexico, Canada — and now Germany — as examples of "bad trade deals" for the US. According to the US Census Bureau, the US had a $64.9 billion goods trade deficit with Germany in 2016.
Trump also criticized Germany's trade surplus during a meeting with European Union officials on Thursday, according to the German news outlet Der Spiegel. Trump said the country was "very bad" on trade, and he took issue with German cars being imported into the US.
The comments were confirmed by Gary Cohn, the National Economic Council director and White House adviser. "He said they're very bad on trade, but he doesn't have a problem with Germany," Cohn told reporters at the G-7 summit in Sicily.
Trump has frequently criticized members of NATO, including Germany, for not hitting an agreed-upon threshold of 2% of gross-domestic-product spending toward defense.
While Trump painted this as a debt "owed" to NATO in a speech with allies on Thursday, foreign-policy experts have said the agreement says the 2% of GDP is supposed to be paid by each country to its own military and is a target to be reached by 2024.

Why shouldn't our President attempt to change the trade imbalance and get Germany to pay more of the costs of their defense?

There is nothing good that will come from Twitler's rants and tweeting.
Except, of course, ensuring his speedy demise.

There is nothing wrong with asking/demanding that Germany pay their fair share to support NATO. Germany paid 1.19% of its GDP to NATO, much less than the 2% recommended share. I might also ask why the U.S. is paying 3.61% of its GDP?
When it comes to a trade deficit with Germany, my guess is that most of it comes from vehicles.
The weakness of the euro also comes into play.
What U.S. cars come close to matching the performance of cars made by BMW, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, and Audi? The last American made car I've bought was back in the 70s. Since then I've purchased cars made by Nissan, BMW, Mercedes, Infiniti, Mazda, Jaguar, Lexus, Mitsubishi and maybe another by a foreign manufacturer that slips my mind. Most of the cars I've purchased could be called "niche" cars, or cars for which there was not an American equivalent, at least to me. If the U.S. wants to lower the trade deficit with Germany, simply produce more goods that are more attractive to Germans than goods made elsewhere. I am not big on producing artificial barriers to free trade.

That is the TRILLION dollar question... one I believe Ike warned us about.
These idiots cry about safety and valor when the real objective is profits at taxpayers expense.

Who gives a fuck? The East is the future, and they like me just fine. (They hate cheap contractors, BTW)
We need to retract our military and quit giving everyone a free defense.

Actually, the Germans are building factories here, so it is likely a good deal for us to keep things as they are with them, but putting a little scare into those Nazi bastards to get an even better deal doesn't hurt.

Germany and France are not, and have never been, friends of the United States. For a period of time, they saw benefit in allowing the US to protect them, and they saw benefit in allowing the US to maintain world stability, but at no time were they our friends. The government officials, and the psuedo intelligencia in those countries despise the US, and the the example that the US provides.
There is not one example of France or Germany providing aid to the US in a time of need. In fact, there are multiple examples of France and Germany providing aid and succor to our enemies in times of conflict, with the intent of that aid and succor being repaid through immoral commerce(a prime example was the Iraqi oil for food program).
We ought to move all of our bases and troops in Europe to Poland. That is where they are needed.
All of them.
If Germany and France simply start taking care of their own security, having Donald Trump as president will have been worth it. Merkel's comments are essentially a complaint that the US no longer a chump. All I can say is "finally".
I'd note that Great Britain is not part of the Europe being discussed. They have been, and likely always will be, a great friend of the US.

And do not forget about the Israeli's, they damn sure do not give a fuck about us. We been paying their way since 21 Jumpstreet!
That sneaky sob will be fucking Trumps wife soon enough, if he hasn't already!
