2 mysteries which seem unexplainable:


Often there is solid debris on the road - retread tires, dropped items. Almost all of them are sitting right on the markers between 2 lanes. The question is, if somebody moved them there, why didn't they just pick it up ? And it doesn't get to the lane markers by itself - who moved them there - aliens ?

The time signs to get from 1 place to another are all over Houston. Does somebody drive from point A to point B, and send in the time it took ? Or do the machines do a few second time lapse picking out a vehicle, and extrapolate ?

Actually had an friend that got a job driving around the city all day long, and being timed via GPS so that transit times could be extrapolated for those signs. Did it about a year before he moved to Oklahoma.

Gotta be the easiest job in the world, but I assume it doesn't pay much.

The 3rd mystery of the highway is the gathering of tow trucks around an accident.

They gather as fast as bees. Only one or two get the job. The others park and visit, sometimes for hours.

There is some kind of tow truck pool organized by the city. Likely the ones that get the job get the most money, while the ones that show up get paid something. Maybe that's why they hang around and visit.
