It was a good move. So now let the Democrats exercise their investigative abilities. It should be known they have no talent in this area. Besides that they want Sessions to resign because if they have to call on a special prosecutor that may uncover some unwanted information about Clinton and Obama collaborating with the Russians as well. So by Sessions recusing that leaves the ball in the Democrats court.

Going back to Frankin's original question, he kept asking about contacts as part of the Campaign, to which Sessions truthfully answered "no".
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-me...anken-about-m/
Senator Sessions was meeting with the Russians in his capacity as a United States Senator.
The Democrats are playing poker with a bad hand. As their big "fake news" bluff falls apart, more Counties turn Red.
The Liberal/Democrat/Socialist/Progressives STILL don't get it.

Here are the exact exchanges.
Franken: "CNN just published a story alleging that the intelligence community provided documents to the president-elect last week that included information that quote, ‘Russian operatives claimed to have compromising personal and financial information about Mr. Trump.’ These documents also allegedly say quote, ‘There was a continuing exchange of information during the campaign between Trump's surrogates and intermediaries for the Russian government.’
"Now, again, I'm telling you this as it's coming out, so you know. But if it's true, it's obviously extremely serious and if there is any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of this campaign, what will you do?"
Sessions: "Senator Franken, I'm not aware of any of those activities. I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I didn't have — did not have communications with the Russians, and I'm unable to comment on it."
============================== ============================== ===
Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., asked: "Several of the President-elect’s nominees or senior advisers have Russian ties. Have you been in contact with anyone connected to any part of the Russian government about the 2016 election, either before or after election day?"
Sessions responded, in total: "No."
============================== ============================== ===
The questions are overly general but vague. Too say he lied is quite a stretch. Also, from what I can gather, both of his supposed "contacts" with the Russkies happened AFTER the wikileaks damaged occurred.
Much ado about nothing.

if you go back and analyze the question/statement franken presented to Sessions in the exchange one will find that franken actually asked Sessions (assuming he became ag), "if there is any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of this campaign, what will you do?"
that was the question
sessions did not respond to that question, he responded to a question never asked.
he responded to the set up by franken of the question, not the question itself.
this was the question's preamble to which Sessions did respond:
"CNN just published a story alleging that the intelligence community provided documents to the president-elect last week that included information that quote, ‘Russian operatives claimed to have compromising personal and financial information about Mr. Trump.’ These documents also allegedly say quote, ‘There was a continuing exchange of information during the campaign between Trump's surrogates and intermediaries for the Russian government.’
Sessions said, "Senator Franken, I'm not aware of any of those activities. I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I didn't have — did not have communications with the Russians, and I'm unable to comment on it."
now the dims are feigning outrage and demanding resignation and possibly a perjury indictment because it has come out that Sessions was at a function, as senator, where the russian ambassador approached him and they exchanged a few words, and that at another time the Russian ambassador asked for and came to his senate office for a meeting
Session's position is that he didn't have any communications with the Russians as a surrogate and that he was truthful as is plain in his response to franken.
in essence he responded to the presentation by franken that CNN claims that surrogates had a continuing exchange of information with the Russians, and Sessions responded, I was called a surrogate, and I didn't have any communications (as surrogate) and I'm unable to comment on it.

And I heard the whining Bitch who started the name-calling try to explain HER "LIE" when she tried to claim never having spoken to the Russians while she was on the same committee as Sessions ...
... changing her statement to "while alone"!
Keep in mind her "announcement" was not limited to anything!
"Much To Do About Nothing"!
Like I posted: the astronauts are next for talking to the Russians!
When is Obaminable going to "resign"?

Yep, WTF has always been big on transference to hide that HE is still in the closet. Even after odummer made it ok for the swishy-walkers to " come out " when he lit up the White House in the rainbow colors after SCOTUS "gay marriage " decision.

Quite.
The last U.S. Cabinet member to be impeached was William Belknap (Secretary of War); for corruption / graft.
And that was in 1876.
As much as Pelosi, Schumer and other Dims have babbled impeachment, I have to believe they're barking up the wrong tree...again.

He lied to Congress, openly, like a WEEK into his new job as being the chief protector of law and order in our Great Experiment. AG has been replaced for far less. So, he should be fired (or allowed to resign in disgrace) before he gets impeached.
Little known fact: the Supreme Court can remove him and don't think they haven't discussed it.
And while we are on the subject, anyone who thinks the Russia connection doesn't amount to much is ignoring a LOT of data.
