A female coworker of mine had a Daewoo and the a/c went out. She said she couldn't find a replacement or something like that and I told her "Maybe it's because Daewoo shut down their car division?" and she goes "Why would they do that?"

From Wiki page
Saturn was originally founded as a private, employee-owned company, by former GM leadership. They remained private until GM bought them out, and effectively "rewrote" company history.
Its separation from the rest of its GM parent, plus the fact that it drained $5 billion from other car projects, stirred anger and resentment within GM's other divisions.

That wiki page crosses itself up so much it's not even funny. I can say from first hand knowledge that from day one new parts for those cars came in GM parts bags.

Yes, isn't that part of the $ 5 billion Saturn drained off other GM divisions, and why they got
tired of it ?

The original thought behind this thread is why the Saturn brand got killed off so quickly.
Wonder if electric cars will make it. Even Mazda, who has been somewhat resistant, is starting plans to build some. Even Bentley.
Mazda is also working on a new engine, with no spark plugs that runs on gas, with an 18 to 1 compression ratio.
Supposedly electric cars are very expensive to repair once the electric parts start failing. But that is not part of the sales pitch.

Saturn was not losing big money until GM wrapped its corporate tentacles around Saturn. Even then it was nothing near $5 billion. GM overpaid for Hummer years ago, that is where most of the drained money originate.

It was all spelled out in the 11th Chapter of the GM story.

Electric cars leave a larger carbon footprint than gas or diesel cars. The electricity is generated, for the most part, with fossil fuels. The huge voltage drop from the generating plant to the charging plug in you garage is overcome with more energy used than just filling up the tank in your gasoline car.
The greenest cars are the hybrids that generate and store their own electricity.

Is it correct that all the electric and hybrid vehicles have very expensive electrical engine parts, and are astronomical to fix ?
Not to mention likely you can't do any work on them yourself.

Saturn never produced a vehicle that they sold for more than it cost them.
Hence why they are no longer around.

Ya thinck it may have been that they were ho-hum disposable cars that the only appeal was to those that did not like to haggle with salesmen. Thus why so many females and effeminate males bought them.
