I tried using google voice with my iPhone a couple years ago and it started messing up on me. I don't know if it was because Google voice isn't or wasn't at the time compatible with iPhone, but I have had a separate phone ever since and it has been great. That probably works best for providers. For the gentleman, it would probably be hard to explain why you have another phone if it was to be discovered.

Those apps that change numbers ever so often have been a pain for me. When a gentleman contacts me from a different number he has to be screened all over again with references that can verify the new number he has at the time.

Separate phones. Too much possibility of data sharing when one phone is used if you use any social media.

For the guys who are worried about app purchase history. You don't actually ever have to install the Google voice app. It can run from your browser. Deleting browser history is much less noticeable than having extra security.

The only problem with that is if she finds it more than once it’s a bit tough to explain since she keeps finding the same kind of phone.
I decided to go with an app that I stuck in a folder of minor apps I don’t really need. If worse come to worse, I can delete the app. If you need a quick number you can download other phone apps and usually get 10 free minutes. Enough to set up something and then delete afterwards.

Google Voice and now use GV app. I've personally had no problems.
