Can American Pharoah win the Grand Slam?
What a historic race this Saturday at Keeneland!! I am so stoked!! For the first time in Breeders' Cup history, a Triple Crown winner is entered.
But can he do it against older horses? Tonalist presents a strong challenge, and has run higher Beyer speed figures all year. At 6-1, he is a must use in the exotics. Frosted comes off a win in the Penn Derby, and while he has lost to the Pharoah 3 times this year, I have seen stranger shit happen.
It is unlikely Keen Ice gets the perfect set-up he got in the Travers, but at projected 15-1 odds, can't leave him out. He is one of the few bred to run all day long.
Beholder? Not sold on this mare. Smooth Roller and Gleneagles are intriguing wildcards. The latter has Aiden O'Brien, the Irish superstar trainer on his side....but it will be his first time on dirt.
This race is a handicapper's dream, and I have a feeling the exotics will be huge on this race.
