I just checked the US-Canadian exchange rates. This may be the perfect time to cross the border for some fun! I can't imagine it getting much better, but there's always hoping.

Good call. It's currently at about 31%. Yes, that 50% was very nice. Maybe it will get even better--at least for those of us south of the border.

Exchanged $ @ duy free last friday and only got 20%. . Is there somewhere better to exchange?

I used to go right to the Casino. Duty free is a business, so they make profit on buying and selling everything.

Duty Free always gave bad rates.

Casinos and the Ft Erie Track always give better rates, usually taking one or two points off the daily exchange rate.

For non hobby related expenses, many credit cards now give the full exchange rate at the time of your transaction with no fees added on! Check your CC company to see if your CC has this feature.....

Remember when a US dollar was worth around $1.50 Canadian and the bridge crossings were fairly easy; but that was before 9/11.

There's a place on the corner of Lundy's Lane & Main St....in Niagara Falls, ON...that gives decent rates, slightly under what the Ft. Erie Track offers. The GOOD part is they're OPEN 24/7.

I just got back from Casino Niagra. $500 American got me $635 Canadian. Sweet! They take their 4 bucks off each hundred you exchange. has been that way no matter what the exchange rate has been over the years. The banks up there charge the same. Still a real nice exchange now.

Yup...used them frequently when Mintz, Seductions and an AMP East Main Health Center, almost across from Mintz was rip roaring back in the day....
