Stings happen on both sides of the line, Mo is just more secretive about it. I never had a problem as a hobbyist in JoCo. Of course I'm smart enough to do my homework beforehand. Providers should screen thoroughly regardless what side of the line they are on, and hobbyist, do your research regardless what side of the line also. I simply do not TOFTT anymore. I let our resident minesweepers do the dirty work, been there, done that.
If it doesn't feel right, don't do it.

JoCo, is a bit different than some. Especially Lenexa. They are very (pro)active in dealing with the hotels directly. They will coach up the desk clerks to look for "suspicious activity" and call them. They lean on them basically saying if they find out the hotel is being used regularly for that kind of thing, they will cause problems for the hotel. I had a well-documented run-in with Lenexa's finest and i wasn't even hobbying. One of the officers was pretty chill and while we were waiting we chatted a bit and he told me they routinely drive thru the parking lots of all the hotels in the city with thei car that has a camera and it takes pics of the license plates of the cars parked there and runs it against a data base for things like stolen cars or warrants and things. He also said they "had a problem" with prostitution in Lenexa and would go to the hotels looking for signs of drug and prostitution activity. That's pretty much a direct quote.
So, while most places aren't that big of a deal and the bigger, nicer hotels have too much traffic to REALLY notice anything. Some of the smaller hotels, a girl checking in and having several visitors WILL raise suspicion and provoke a response. KC doesn't do that. KCK/WyCo doesn't do that. NO ALL in JoCo do. But Lenexa surely does. I heard it straight from the cops mouth. And I don't sense he was bs'ing me. He was actually pretty cool.
