Here we are talking about Westerns, in my welcome thread no less, and WTF comes and ruins a wet dream... again. Typical.

ha, ha! forgot about My Name is Nobody. I think I was confusing that title with Trinity. had forgotten all about both those classic scenes.
I prefer the classics, Two Mules for Sister Sarah, Gunfight at the OK Corral, Death Rides a Horse.. you get the idea.

No you were not talking about Westerns and then I came along, you hadn't posted in this thread in over 2 months.

I posted in this thread today and then you came along making a fool of yourself imho.

btw Blazing Saddles is the western all westerns should be judged by.

.Bart: Work here is done. I'm needed elsewhere now. I'm needed wherever outlaws rule the West, wherever innocent women and children are afraid to walk the streets, wherever a man cannot live in simple dignity, wherever a people cry out for justice.
Crowd: [in unison] BULLSHIT!
Bart: All right, you caught me. To speak the plain truth, it's getting pretty damn dull around here.

Reverend Johnson: Now I don't have to tell you good folks what's been happening in our beloved little town. Sheriff murdered, crops burned, stores looted, people stampeded, and cattle raped. The time has come to act, and act fast. I'm leaving.

I get the idea. Pale Rider, High Plains Drifter, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Rio Bravo and such. I thought Rio Bravo had a connected movie. guess remembered that wrong.

personally I think Silverado is almost in its own league. soo many big name actors/actresses and some even before they were big names.

also hard to beat Kilmer's Doc Holiday. he nailed that

Default Mel Brooks: 10 things you never knew about ‘Blazing Saddles’

http://nypost.com/2014/05/03/mel-bro...azing-saddles/

2. Brooks quit when Warner Bros. refused to cast his first choice for Black Bart, co-writer and gonzo comedian Richard Pryor.
“The studio said he couldn’t be insured after a drug arrest. Richard [inset] urged me to return and audition other actors. He thought Cleavon Little was a better choice than him — ‘He’s a stage-trained actor, charming, handsome and strong, plus this guy is coal-black, way darker than me. He’s going to scare the s–t out of that town.’

3. When shooting began, character actor Gig Young (below) was playing the Waco Kid.
“He was great in ‘They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?,’ and he was a recovering alcoholic. Unfortunately, he wasn’t really recovering and he vomited something green all over the jailhouse set the first day. So I had to send for Gene Wilder to replace him.”

4. Hottentot Venus would have made a better Mongo...ijs

When it comes to westerns ... John Wayne is still the king and next is Tom Selleck.

Threads may get off topic and be allowed to continue. A lot of that depends on attitudes of posters involved. Civil discussions are always welcomed.

Dang it, that cortisone cream seems to be starting to wear off on my finger.

If Hot-To-Trot Venus - the subject of this thread - wants to talk about horse operas, who are we to say 'neigh'?

Speaking of, I thinck D'jango Unchained was funny but more like a cartoon compared to the original of the almost same name.

The original (1966) is must see, required viewing if you will for those who love a good spaghetti Western. Banned in the UK until 1993.

I think they made a movie called Rio Lobo that was a sequel to Rio Bravo but not positive about that . Or maybe your thinking of El Dorado, which is essentially the same movie as Rio Bravo, except Robert Mitchum was the drunk Sheriff instead of Dean Martin , James Caan played Mississippi instead of Ricky Nelson who played Colorado and you had dueling Crusty old Deputies in Arthur Hunnicut as Bull and Walter Brennan as Stumpy

I think you're right. I read something about both of these (think it was those two) trying to find the movie I was remembering.

maybe was just mixing up thoughts about Rio Bravo and Rio Grande since both start with Rio and both have John Wayne.
