NBT was obviously being very rude and condescending, but his general point is valid. A provider whose menu starts at a minimum 300/hr is more likely to attract clients who can afford to (and often WANT to) throw a little money around, and are thus less likely to haggle. A very low cost entry price deters these type of clients, and instead attracts more budget minded clients, who are going to be more likely to haggle. That doesn't mean there aren't plenty of exceptions, it's just a general trend.

Even though your point is valid, I have to wonder, was your goal really to share some pricing advice, or was it to feel superior and belittle those who you view as "beneath" you (ie: less intelligent or affluent)? I mean, you seem smart enough, so you must have known going in that this isn't the right message board to expect reasonable discourse regarding economic principles. Once it was clear your message wasn't being heard, you could have just walked away without leaving the scorched earth behind. Being "right" and being mean are two separate things.
