While Mr Green went a little overboard in his tirade against antibacterial soap. I am going to cut him some slack. I could be mistaken but, he may have been referring to hand sanitizers. And he is correct. Most Hand Sanitizers on the market are useless and give a false sense of security. Most of them are 60% alcohol. By the time you put it on your hand and rub it in all the alcohol has evaporated rendering it useless.

Antibacterial soap, especially the brands on the market, is absolutely the most dangerous thing being sold today. It does nothing, repeat nothing, useful and enormous harm.

Far better than lysol is something containing nonoxynol, which is a chemical loosely called an alcohol and sometimes used as a spermicide. This is strictly about the infective agents that carry STDS. Some are exceedingly infectious at certain stages, as is well-documented in popular literature available on the internet.

But antibacterial soap does nothing and is one of the agents causing extreme harm. Bacteria live in dense colonies anywhere they exist, much like different types of people live in cities, with well-defined addresses and each keep to their own little turfs. When there is any disturbance or crowding, the signal to each other and then switch on anti-neighbor chemicals, switching on their own virulence and hyper-virulence machineries to high gear. This is when a vast range of toxins and war preparations begin to come into effect, and those affect us very powerfully.

[It is one of the reasons why chickens and pigs raised in battery cages are dosed with a a range of antibiotics to quell their bacteria in the bile ducts and various parts of the intestines from this hypervirulence reaction which is what they are raising their heads for. There would be no meat from this sort of horrible system otherwise.]

I hope I have not made anyone upset, but the advertisement industry, just like the food industry, sells product without regard for the greater good of humans. What I have written can be checked with any responsible molecular biologist at any university.

Viruses are the problem, and subviral particles are infinitely worse. Some viruses are difficult to eliminate even after 24 hours in pressure cooker conditions.

Our finger tips and other body parts have lots of chemicals that do a good job of killing very ugly viruses DEAD. Whoever expressed her disgust at the human fingertip is mistaken. We have RNAses, RNA digesting enzymes, secreted by our own body, that destroy viruses which sophisticated sterilizing equipment cannot, even when run for 24 hours. I have done this work personally!! So, we have evolved quite a defense against nasty critters. Dirty fingers are not quite as dirty as we think they are!!

The female reproductive tract is the largest area/tissue of sensitive mucous membrane in contact with the external world. it is also the most vital region responsible for the survival of the human race. So, that reproductive tract has evolved significant defenses of its own, and the mucous membrane should not be violated with repeated chemical interventions or mechanical injuries.

Dawn is a mild and good detergent. But anionic detergents that can be purchased in consultation with your dermatologist should be even better. Wash your hands with a mild detergent, like Palmolive. NOT SOAP, and NEVER EVER ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP, please.

First best - Mild soap and water. It's the loosening power of the soap and the friction of rubbing your hands that loses most of the bad guys.

Second best - A generous amount of hand sanitizer with over 60% alcohol. Purell contains 70%.
