Apple computers

Not really looking to start a debate here about Macs vs PCs. I've been a Windows PC user all my life. But I had a 27-inch Apple Thunderbolt display come into my hands and I don't know what to do with it. I can't connect it to my desktop because it doesn't have a Thunderbolt port. I thought about getting a Mac Mini for $400 to get into the Apple ecosystem. Any thoughts about using Macs? Do you have one? What do you like or dislike about it?

I've been an Apple user for the past decade. Believe me, Apple didn't become the world's richest corporation by marketing junk. If you buy a Mac mini, you'll never look back.

To simply use or wanna try it out yes mac mini would be good.

You can also buy a macbook laptop (which you can connect to your 27 display) to use at home and also be able to take the laptop on the go.

3rd option is to get a mac pro desktop, but only if you're a performance user.

you'll be a snob and be frustrated for maybe a month, after that you'll love it.

Yeah I'm not a power-user with Macs yet. I don't want to invest too much into Apple as I don't know for sure if I will like the OS. Microcenter has a Mac Mini for $399.

Been an apple enthusiast since the Apple IIe in the 1980s. The monitor is just another display that you can use with any computer as long as you have the correct adapter. Tbolt to HDMI works if you want to connect it to a PC or other external source like apple TV, DVD player, etc. Check Best Buy or Apple store to buy the converters you want/need.

Should you buy a Mac Mini? Sure, if you need one. It's a great little computer. I've got several that I use a media players throughout the house, one I use as a stand alone computer for general use in my home office, one in the kitchen, one in the game room, and one in the music room for my kids. I also have a couple of PCs but rarely use them. It just my preference. Have fun with your new monitor.

I couldn't find a Tbolt to HDMI adapter. Can you tell me where to find one?

I have one of those Monoprice adapters already. It didn't work. I read that the Mini-displayport is not exactly the same as the Thunderbolt connection. They both fit in the same port, but the Thunderbolt needs to go to a Thunderbolt graphics engine.

I think that would work if the monitor has a HDMI port and the computer has a Tbolt port, but not the other way around.

you can get converters so you can test drive it on a PC I believe but like another person said... if you get a MAC mini and hook it up there, your porn will look SOOOOOOO much better


Seriously.. been in I.T. for 20 years... every major company out there has an Art-Graphics- Multimedia department... they use MAC's for all that..

How does porn look with the retina display? BTW, I was programming computers before most of our board members were born (mid to late 60's).
