Dude, you can find perfectly acceptable hotels, at any quality level from dive to 5 star, that do NOT charge joiner fees.

Google "guest-friendly hotel bangkok" or guest-friendly hotel pattaya".

Yeah I know, but that was at the end of my trip. I had already switched hotels from the guest friendly one I started with. I started my trip off with staying at the Yorkshire. I highly recommend this hotel if anyone is going to Phuket and staying in Patong. Super convenient location from Bangla Rd, nice clean rooms, great gym, awesome staff, and guest friendly.
