Default Montgomery County IP address monitoring?

Has anyone heard about cops in Montgomery County monitoring usage/visits to adult sites like this one? I just heard of a provider being arrested recently as a result of her frequent visits. Could be more to the story, but it has me concerned.

No but visiting sites like this isn't illegal. If there is a story there's more to it.

To be descriptive, but intentionally vague, it is a "real time" data collection.

That just answers that question.

As to why any particular person got busted is multi-faceted speculation.

Your tin foil hat should shield your IP from being traced, don't take it off.

I can tell u its pure BS. First off, it won't be ur average cop that does any type of up tracing, it has to be a law broken on a federal level, in which would involve a federal law enforcement. Calling escorts doesn't qualify for it. Hacking or phreaking into federal agencies does qualify. In other words, tell your friend that he or she isn't important enough to be traced. Besides, if they really wanted ur info, SQL injection to this site would be much quicker and easier, and just about anyone can do that.

I can tell you it's not. You got it backwards. Your conclusions are based on "ASSUMPTIONS" and not the reality.

One primary reason people get busted is ... erroneous assumptions.

Actually, Mr.Lonely got it right on the money, it isn't illegal to visit these sites. I don't base anything on assumptions, just on some laws and common sense. But hell, feel free to worry yourself. If ur still bothered, the next time you see an officer, ask him how many pings are normally hit while tracing. His expression should give you the answer.

That has nothing to do with whether or not MOCO can monitor activity on a specific IP address and determine what websites are visited.

I happen to know MOCO does and does.

And it doesn't "worry" me at all. Because I know they can, and do.

And before you try to score some more worthless "points" ..

here was her question, again:

And my answer:

I believe Google does the same thing for quite some time but visiting these sites is not illegal. I doubt the le agency has the budget to devote tracking and usage to compile evidence against hookers in court. But if they did then that's what they're doing. Not merely for just visiting adult websites.

Funding comes from the broad net cast for trafficking and underage victims. The personnel is drawn from the local agencies with FBi/DHS oversight and nationally pooled assets. You will find that most of the computer gurus are local LE and not Federal agents, and most of the testimony comes from the locals. In addition the Feds use contract labor from nonLE gurus for developing the evidence.

If, and I am saying "If," the hooker is visiting the site to check her hits or PM's in response to her ad she has posted on the site, then the link to the ad is made with the source, and a soliciting case can be made against the hooker. The hooker only has to "offer" not fuck.

That is probably well beyond the scope of the initial question, but it certain addresses the dismissive "tin hat" bullshit.

And I agree with you: LE also gathers evidence from social websites.

Funny thing about this all is that we are talking about Montgomery, not Harris county. Yes, I agree that local le will arrest those checking out underage sites, but that is authorized on a federal level. I never heard of a local le investigating an online site, esp Montgomery county.

Hypotheticals and possible conspiracy theories do not constitute an alert. Without an actual threat of some kind to the membership this discussion belongs in another more appropriate forum.

You have more to worry about downloading movies than cops getting your IP for just visiting a site. Unless you're using TOR.

Tor helps, or good ple proxy servers, however, when dealing with federal crimes, they are useless. What I mean by that is that although they help mask, they arent fully reliable. By the way, on a different note, isn't Conroe the largest city in Montgomery? Pfffff
