PrEP-hiv prevention drug for those at high risk of infection
So... with all the hard drug use, bbfs, and swapping of partners that I have become aware of since being in this hobby I figured it was about time I did some research.. I came across this prevention information and found it very interesting. I will be making an appointment to talk to my dr regarding this immediately.. if anyone knows any info on this I would appreciate feedback and thoughts
*******.Pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, is a way for people who do not have HIV but who are at substantial risk of getting it to prevent HIV infection by taking a pill every day. The pill (brand name Truvada) contains two medicines (tenofovir and emtricitabine) that are used in combination with other medicines to treat HIV. When someone is exposed to HIV through sex or injection drug use, these medicines can work to keep the virus from establishing a permanent infection.
When taken consistently, PrEP has been shown to reduce the risk of HIV infection in people who are at high risk by up to 92%. PrEP is much less effective if it is not taken consistently.
PrEP is a powerful HIV prevention tool and can be combined with condoms and other prevention methods to provide even greater protection than when used alone. But people who use PrEP must commit to taking the drug every day and seeing their health care provider for follow-up every 3 months.

Trisha, it seems you handle yourself as safe as you reasonably should. You screen and play safe (cfs), or so it seems.
I don't believe cutting into your profit margin by $1000/mo would be worth it, IMO. But you have to feel good, that's all that matters really.
That hookers spread std's is one of the fallacies of the Prohibitionist propaganda machine (along with trafficking lies). Despite what you read here most transactional sex is safe (note I said most). The bigger risk is picking up strange in a bar where bb would be more prevalent.

I'm not preaching... being in the hobby were in I see it as a good topic in comparison to some of the bs that gets posted. there's nothing wrong with being educated on what's out there.. I had never heard of this as I'm sure others hadn't either.. and someone may find the information helpful not that they know its out there..

Proper screening, limiting your clientele, playing safe, and taking care of yourself will keep you safe and healthy. If you are so concerned with this topic and PT so much then perhaps it is your own screening process you need to take a look at. If you use your head and conduct your business professionally and safely then there is no need to worry about such topics so much. IMHO

Some well-reasoned thoughts above, and, for those who don't realize that all drugs have the potential for mild to serious side effects, see the link below.

My screening process is just fine, and I do use my head and I conduct my business professionally!! But there is no reason why one shouldn't education themselves on what options are out there.. it never hurts to ask questions, research and be informed!! Perhaps with using your head you will eventually take into consideration my point of view!!
