Advertising an interest in rough play can be tricky, awkward, and downright dangerous. I used to roll my eyes whenever people on ASPD told me that until the day a very nice gentleman asked very politely to handcuff me to his fancy downtown hotel room toilet and use me as such. I politely turned down the appointment, and judging from his reference history he would have been sweet if I declined in person, but that would have ruined the whole vibe of the appointment. That was a soft way to learn a lesson.

Anywho, now I just wait to feel out a gentleman in person. It's easy to tell when he wants to pin you down, pull your hair, spank you, etc. Picking up on those cues and clearly asking for what you want keeps things copacetic.

I never knew I was into it and I never knew how dominant I could be until I started dating girls that for some reason became totally submissive to me despite never having experimented much like that before. A few years back I went out with this girl that made a lot of money being a switch and providing cookie cutter cliche S&M scenes... I generally don't even talk about S&M with providers as they just start talking about disengaged facsimile stuff.. It is very difficult to hook up with a psychologically complementary sub anywhere ( One way to look at this is two limbic systems acting out shit tthe rest of the mind does not even know about or understand, but exquisite levels of intoxicating states can be reached that can't really be reached any other way). Its very difficult to match up. The limited, transactional nature of the hobby distorts the power interactions.. it just does not seem to me that the deep connections for "inside out" S&M play will develop.in the hobby world. I was a member of this organization in DC for over 20 years, http://www.br.org/.. the only time I recall "providers" being around was to augment scenes.
