Could it be an internet based personality split or just an extension of an internal personality that is untethered and released to express itself without the RL suppression mechanisms (aka conscience)? In time, the real you invades your internet persona even when you try to hold it back (human nature being what it is). The people here I've met in person, I enjoyed immensely. Only subtle differences to their posting styles versus their RL attitudes, intelligence and beauty.
From what I see, the internet enables the inner you or slanted version (mask) of yourself to go on either as an extension of you (true feelings) or as a sock-puppet joke/tool (either for fun or nefarious purpose to hide yourself).
For example, we've seen quite a bit of targeted sock-puppetry lately here on the boards lately haven't we? Generally, those who seek the second (nefarious option) for their sock-puppet persona are sad lonely individuals usually haunted with a touch of self-loathing and jealousy to motivate their external anger (targeted activities). I admit I do find that phenomena is interesting to watch play itself out.
But to sum it up, I can assure you of one internet truth:
the real me is me when I desire me to be.
Have fun muffo.. don't overthink it!
