Prepaid credit cards - Secret purchases
I have regular credit cards, no credit issues. Sometimes I want to make a purchase online that I want to keep secret. With prepaid cards, do you have to give your real name? Do you get statements in the mail? Is there a minimum that you need to load on the card? I just don't want my secret purchases to come back and haunt me. Btw, I am not buying anything illegal. Just stuff that won't be discussed at dinner. Does anyone have experience with these?
Thanks for your input.

You need to provide your social security number when you register the card and, most times, you'll need to provide an address so they can send you a permanent card with your name on it. Prepaid gift cards are a different story - they are usually not refillable, but the ID protection needed with prepaid credit cards is not needed.

You can go get a Vanilla card from CVS, 7Eleven, or Target.
and you only have register with a zip code.
No social needed.

I agree Vanilla is the way to go. I always get them at CVS but I saw them at walgreens last night.

you can get a visa from any bank. they'll need your name and address for security but there's no paper statement/no contact. once you get one you go online to activate it. you can pretty much get any denomination you want. becareful getting vanilla ones like the ones you can get at walmart, they don't always work for online purchases
