I fell in love with Hendrix after a very tragic event in my life when I was a young adult. The lyrics and music moved me to a place where my confusion became tangible and outside of myself. Every time the world got to be too much I would listen and find some peace again.

Didnt he think of his guitar as a woman and when he played he thought of it as making love to his guitar? That would explain so much about why he was able to do what he did with his music.

Fave songs, red house, manic depression, wind cries mary, freedom and stepping stone[/QUOTE] - FRom THATHOTNURSE>>>

Oh yea, I know that one alright... So true of music in general, but Jimi, with all his pain, loneliness, and search for truth, musically stated his art in such a way which was both unorthodox and plain.

"Be forewarned. Used to be an Experience meant making you a bit older. This one makes you wider. With the assistance of Mitch Mitchell (on drums) and Noel Redding (on guitar), Jim Hendrix breaks the world into interesting fragments. Then reassembles it. You hear with new ears, after being Experienced. Those who've only seen him perform only know part of This Experience. They rave about a young man who plays a guitar in more positions than anybody before him. Now, this debut album will put the heads of Hendrix' listeners into some novel positions. Be forewarned."

What really stands out to me was the Woodstock concert. I was just a little kid at the time but I've seen many documentaries and film clips about it.
Most of the people had left. They were tired, filthy, muddy, hungry, burned out and hung over.
He didn't play Sunday night as scheduled because of the rain, so he opens his set at 8am on Monday morning... but he came to play.
The way he looked in that white frilly shirt and the performance he gave, he ended up epitomizing and owning Woodstock.
The Star Spangled banner version that he played still brings on the goose-bumps.
Some people thought it was un-American at the time but looking back on that era and all the issues involved, it's just a complete thing of beauty and work of art.

'I know what it is I want
I just don't know how to go about gettin' it...."

That lyric needs to be a sticky in coed for all the unnamed whiners, eh?
