Seasoned Harley owners
Ok guys was at the showroom this weekend eyeballing rides as a present to myself.
This would be my first Harley. Any comments or advice?
Can't quite decide between a Fat Boy Lo or Softail Deluxe.

Well, im not a seasoned owner, only had mine since April of this year, but depends on what your riding intentions are. If just to cruise around town or short trips not too far away, the fat boy is not a bad choice. If wanting to make longer road trips, the softail deluxe may be more to your liking. I have a fat boy, and my step-dad has a softtail deluxe. Mine has the bigger motor, more pep, and imho looks better, but his has the more classic look and the better ride for long trips. Here is a pic of my 2010 fatboy in the smoky mtns back in May. 2200 miles in a week from LC on up the natchez trace to nashville, then over to the smokeys and back home again thru north georgia. To say my ass was sore would be an understatement. But i would do it again tomorrow. Might need to look into another, more comfortable seat though.

Looking for a weekend rider for relatively short road trips. There's no friggin way I'd have it as a daily ride. My route to work is long and takes me across Mississippi River bridge. I'll stick with the car for that.
The Fat Boy is winning out in my mind.

I prefer naked bikes myself (the Triumph Speed Triple is my dream bike), but both of those Harleys look nice! I'd take the Fat Boy out of the two, though. It looks meaner, and I like the black-out look of it more than the yards of chrome on the Softtail.

Softail Deluxe
Have had 2 Deluxes. Love them. Great ergonomics, low seat height, easily changed from a cruiser to a touring bike. And if you like the Deluxe, check out the 2014 Screamin' Eagle version with the 110 motor. AWESOME!!

I have a Fatboy. Had a sporty in the past. It finally grew up. Me personally, I'm looking to upgrade next year. I would go with the street glide or ultra classic limited. One has the tour pack and the other doesn't as I'm sure you're aware. I love my Fatboy for jumping around and even riding 150 miles or so a day but the touring models ride better and of course the stereo is great. My boss just bought a 2014 street glide and he had a heritage softail. He runs it in my face how much better the street glide is and stock pipes, he can answer phone calls on Bluetooth and stereo sounds great.
Anyways, just my 10 cents worth.

Ole Shelton has been an aficionado of many things in his day and he places a high priority on those things which will provide him pleasure by being between his legs. That being said, Ole Shelton tells you congrats.....you will not be sad with either purchase, but Ole Shelton understands your problem. Y'see, Ole SHelton understands you look alot more bad-ass on the FatBoy....we all do. However, you are gonna enjoy the Deluxe more. Welcome to the club

Dallas, I think you'd ride a Vespa if the vibrations could get you off.
