Default Cell phone providers

Comparing cell phone providers in the metro.

Verison, T-Mobile, ATT, Sprint and others?
Rates, phones, insurance? Who is the best and why?

I like boost $50 a month unlimited everything. when you pay 6 payments on time you get $5 off your bill permanently and it can get as low as $35
I have excellent service all the time, and no contract.

What about Wal-Mart family plan.
The phones they sell aren't bad either.

I have a 300 min, unlimited data/text plan through Virgin for $25 a month. Just fine for me since I don't talk on the phone much.

Spent some time comparing and based on comments, all these seem good. Any T- Moble users in the crowded?

There are good places to get information and this is one.
WalMart, Virgin and Straight Talk have been added. No T-Mobiles around the metro? From the ones I looked at, it seemed good.

I dunno if it's the best but I use an at&t go-phone and a $2 a day plan .... good enough for me I haven't changed it yet and coverage is pretty good so far. I've been all up and down most of the east coast (Maine to Georgia), all around most of the midwest and it gives me what I need most of the time.

Verison has the best wide area coverage. If you get off of the main highway don't consider anything else. For the country area the others just don't have the coverage. I need to be reached anyplace.

ATT is good for in town use, but if you move away from the highway up north by the airport, you can not get reception. I use ATT for the hobby phone that I get from Radio Shack for CASH only under my hobby name to a PO box with the hobby name and an old connecting address. But, the throwaway phone costs $0.25 per minute use. Minimum time purchased is $25, which is good for three months. I don't use 100 minutes on the hobby phone in 3 months; so the cost is $8.33 per month.

Apple IPhone has no competition, when I switched 6 phones from Sprint to Verison I saved $150 per month, with better coverage.

Sprint is a hometown company, but they have been a problem to deal with.

ATT had an exclusive on the IPhone, but not anymore. I waited until Verison had them.

I don't text much, but the iPhone gets the mail from my computers, plus the 14 work calendars are all shared. With several email accounts, one has to try to make sense out of the modern mess that phones and computers bring to us.

The main thing to remember about the phones, anyone you call can see your phone number on a cell phone, and call you back. You can turn the hobby phone off when you are not receivng calls. The security of a second hobby phone is well worth the price. Make the on line search for the phone number a dead end, unless you welcome all visitors.

I had T-Mobile for close to 10 years, and found it to be the most reliable of the 2 other providers I tried in the metro area. The down side was that I was paying double than what I am now for 600 minutes when I would use at most 30. By the time I looked around, the Sprint network had finally gotten reliable enough to use it in Leavenworth County. Virgin runs off the Sprint network.

I sold Sprint when it first rolled out PCS in the mid-90s, and it was completely dead north of Bonner Springs. It would fall off right at Ma Bells.

Well as a NASCAR fan, Sprint was offering some very special specials and discounts based on work locations and some nice phones at discounts at the Speedway, oh and coverage was an issue too. Thanks again for the help on this project.

Was a great day at the track last weekend and there was a nice lady in the seat next to me. I have had a number of ladies join me at KMS and TMS over the years and it is alway fun to have a pretty lady next to me at the track or to see Madonna or just about anywhere in this world - real or Eccie style. Infact one time I introduced my guest as a HOTDOG specialist and she was the best who every had my dog! And did she ever make him POP!

When they did the Sprint PCS roll out in 96-97, I thought it was funny that it wouldn't work 20 air miles from the Sprint world headquarters. I just got back from NW Kansas/NE, and Sprint doesn't work there either once you get away from I-70, and I-80.
