why just bars? try meetup.com and join some groups with people who have the same interests as you. there are all kinds of groups for all kinds of hobbies and interests. bars only have drinkers in them. loads of women don't drink. The only time you'll only find me in a bar to see a band.

Yoga practices. Coed ultimate frisbee and other coed sports. Outdoor shows at Zilker. Girls in from neighborhood walking their dogs. SxSW. Couchsurfer meetups. Karaoke meetups. Bicycling clubs. Hiking clubs. The Airport. In front of a Chinese restaurant. The Tamale House, twice.

Those have been some lucky local opptys to meet civilian girls, so far, for Trees.
