Please don't
Please don't use a hosting services that tells for in their terms that what your wanting to do is not allow and do it anyway and hope for the best, that's just crazy talk and a recipe for utter failure, why take a chance when you don't have to. just becuase they are letting it slide is because no one bitched yet, but once they do, your site,or sites will fall like dominos, and if you're a webdesigner doing this, you're going to have a lot of pissed off people coming your way. do it right the first time,
don't use paypal, if they find you're running a escort site, they will kill your account and keep your money

Not completely sure but to me it only makes sense to disable the domain name at escortsite, which they do allow. Maybe that will allow you to have the same domain with another site. Kind of like cancelling your website with escortsite, because you probably started out with the free domain and then paid for a custom name this should work or may even have to wait until your paid-thru date for your domain with escortsite is reached, because for custom domain names you purchase from escortsite

Karrine, from what the rep said, I can indeed "cancel" my domain, and it would become inactive, but it wouldn't be available again until it expires. So, if I wanted to keep CalistaSyn.com, I'd have to wait for it to expire next year. They have a LOT of SUPER fine print with their domain hosting services, so everyone reading, beware!
Thats why I decided to keep the domain active and have it redirect to my new site. That way, I'll know exactly the moment it becomes available and I can snag it again, and, anyone who is searching for me by that site, be it word of mouth or an old client will not lose me for a while. All in all it makes the transition a little smoother so it worked out in the end. Just wish escortsite hadn't been such dicks about the whole thing.

Why don't you see if they will just sell you the domain name, of course they will charge you a pretty penny for it, they don't really need it or want it except to keep you paying for a site you're not using except to do a redirect. just google your old domain name, see everywhere your linking from and then go to those sites and change to your new domain name, now if you got a lot of post with links to your site, make new post with the new link., anyway since you're already doing a redirect to your new domain name you may not need the old one later, also just because the domain name expires doesn't mean you're going to get it, that domain name will be ripe for the picking by someone wanting to pick up expired domain names, if it's a popular name it may get snapped up before you have a chance to react.

Calista, if I were you, I'd backorder that domain for when it does come available.

since they already gave you the key to point the domain name to your new server, just do that, have your new host do it for you, that way you don't need the redirect and you don't need the old site anymore. if you already paid for the domain name upfront, tell them to kill the site, that way you're not paying for the hosting.
