Default Foul at the 2nd Round Poker-Her Tournament

Sooooooo, received an invite to the poker tournament, which I greatly appreciated and was provided the address to one of our generous fellow hobbyist's home to play.

Had a string of good luck, won a lot of chips and moved to a table to consolidate the players.

Next phase, go to the latrine to take a whizz come back to the table to find the owner of the house making change, cashing in smaller ones for what I believe were bigger ones, while I am in the John.....got it.

Let the hospitable owner know that I thought that was in poor taste and placed all my chips in the middle of the table for all to divide. To which he replied, "what you don't trust me, the owner of the house".

I gave Maxeen a soured looked, to which she asked me what was wrong at which point I told her about the chip fiasco, which she relied who did that and I told her the owner.....WHO at that time was walking towards me and said "GET OUT".

Got it, moved out smartly without a fuss and posted my experience here.

Maxeen, thank you for the invite....everyone else glad to have had the opportunity to play and homeowner, take care.

I will generously give you until tomorrow until 3:00 pm to have the mods close this thread. Clear your head than think about it. I will reply after 3:00 if this thread is still open.

What exactly is there to think about?

Appreciate the generosity, but I will save you the time of waiting for me to have the MODS close this thread by high noon today.

Appreciate the nudge though.

So, he chipped you up while you were away from the table...so what? Chipping up is common practice, whether during a break or during the game. Players go to the can, have a smoke, make or take a call, or just take a walk to clear their heads after a bad beat. I've been playing over forty years; home games, casinos, bars, legal and illegal games, you name it. To my way of thinking you have nothing legitimate to complain about. There was no foul here, except in your mind. You overreacted.

The only person in this situation who did anything wrong was you. As previously stated chipping up is a standard practice and is not cheating or disrespectful to anyone. If there was any confusion about what was happening you could have waited for me (the dealer) to return to the table and clear it up or any other player with experience ànd it could have bden handled in a tactful manner. You lost your cool, disrespected a man who invited you into his home and spread negativity when the point is to relax and enjoy yourself. You owe atxbrad an apology as far as I'm concerned

Wait a minute! Chipping up being done by someone other than the dealer, and the dealer is not at the table? FOUL!

Yeah, that was my reaction, too. You don't touch another man's chips without his permission. You just don't. And I can't imagine any good reason to ask if you aren't the dealer.

First off, AtxBrad dealt the chips out and coordinated seating. If you werent there then you simply dont understand what happened. It was a simple problem that couldve been easily fixed. However, when you disrespect a host in their own home it doesnt go very well.

Bottom line, we were all there for a good time. It’s like calling a party foul in a game of beer pong! Makes no sense to me at all. Food, An array of booze which did not stop coming, Naked woman, Great company…all for $100. There was even an after party that everyone was invited to. I think ATF Hobby owes an apology. Just my 2 cents.

You're right, Max, I wasn't there, so fill me in on a couple of things. Was this just a friendly get together, or did you and Brad pocket any of the $100 buy-in from each participant?

If it was the first case, then Brad had no business touching anybody's chips, I don't care if it was at his house or not.

If it was the second case, then maybe Brad saw himself as the HOUSE and felt privileged to handle chips. In that case, you guys should have advertised it as a money-making proposition (a lot of people would have had no problem with that) and advertised the house rules, since they varied from common poker practice. Then people could decide if they were happy paying a fee to follow those rules.

At the least, Brad could have helped matters by simply saying, "my bad, I was trying to help, won't do it again" (or if he will do it again, let people know ahead of time, to factor into their decision to join the game or not). As it is, he (and maybe you as co-promoter) comes off smelling defensive and a little suspect when it wasn't necessary. All it took was being a little more upfront about the nature of the event ahead of time.

I sat next to ATF Hobby at both tables during the tourney. He was on my left at the first table an then on my right at the second. First and foremost, everyone needs to realize and understand that poker is about the 5th or 6th most important thing going on at these parties. If you're a hard-core player and looking for a game, you're gonna be disappointed. Second, I honestly don't care how much of a cut, if any, the house gets. The food and alcohol are always free and there's NO WAY my puny $100 covered my alcohol bill at either event!

That being said, I really enjoyed having ATF Hobby there. We chatted it up and goofed around, drank some alcohol and had a good time. I think this was a case of EVERYONE having a bit too much alcohol and not enough communication. This spat went from 0 to 120mph in literally 5 seconds. I think if we could have just sat down for a second, explained each side, everyone involved would have seen it was just a simple misunderstanding. But, alcohol has a tendency to cut your fuse in half...or a quarter as the case may be.

Brad is a stand up guy. I'll personally vouch for him. He was trying to help speed the game along. Nothing else. I was in fact watching him change out ATF Hobby's chips to double check and make sure it was correct and legit. ATF Hobby comes back from a piss break and it looks like folks are splitting up his chips. He gets upset naturally. He's not sure what's going on. Even though Brad IS the house, having just MET Brad a couple hours ago and having consumes a good bit of alcohol, is likely that fact didn't register. Hell, I tried to explain and before I even finished a full sentence, the whole thing was over and ATF was gone.

In my opinion, we ALL over-reacted a bit...likely due to the alcohol. I'm confident in saying that neither side was the bad guy and each side has a legit gripe. For the sake of 2 VERY cool and fun guys to hang out with, I'd like to see you guys come together, sake hands, forgive each other for the misunderstanding and put it behind us.

Just my $0.02...
