And yet some still think BBFS is no big deal.

I don't know how many times BBFS has been discussed!! In upstate NY it is practically a requirement on the resume.

I think it was Jokacz who posted a great link on the increase of throat cancer linked to the HPV.

Between the two, I think HPV is the more apt to happen, simply because there are fewer symptoms in the male.

I'm ocd and terrified of diseases! I so can't read that stuff!
When I was 17 and still a virgin I had abnormal cells on a pap they did a cone biopsy and said "we have great news! It's just cancer and not an std!" I was like "WTF I told you I'm a virgin and when is cancer a good thing?"They told me the most terrifying horror stories then they did an in office procedure and sent me home. Let me tell you it was with no anesthetic (neither was the cone biopsy) and that alone scared me enough but put the horror stories and pics they showed me on top! When I finally did have sex the first ten guys I not only made them wear condoms (of course) but I made them get tested before I would do anything more than kiss them Lmfao.

I don't believe any alerts that come from the medical field. About a decade ago SARS was thought to be a potential pandemic.....not. Same thing for the Asian bird flu and the H1N1 flu. They weren't nearly the problem they were projected to be. The media likes to shock us. Don't think they're too concerned if anything they say is remotely accurate.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but I do know someone who nearly died of H1N1. That virus was pretty serious. He came very, very close. Twice they called in his family in the middle of the night thinking it was the end.

It's OK to be skeptical, but I wouldn't go that far.

When was the last time a medical alert by the media turned out to be accurate.

When a potential epidemic is put down by vigilant counter measures coupled with public education, it does not mean that the initial "alert" was unnecessary.
