Default Closing threads.

I do not want to voice my opinion in another thread about 'Closing threads' as I do not want to deviate from the main subject of that thread.

If 'You' start a thread to express something (what ever it is) and if it goes the other way around, then 'You' need to face 'that' and 'You' can not (you can) request/demand it to be closed. You may request the local moderators, but that doesn't mean that the moderators have to fulfill your request.

post #20 is not valid (past is past), we all know things will change and move around little bit over the period of time.

Moderators may close on some exceptional cases (*).

You can express your opinion here or share your thoughts.

NOTE:
I may close this thread if this one goes off track, since I can send a request to myself to close it..

I think that's reasonable Modda. Thanks for the update.

My thoughts were always along the line of 'once you open a thread, it's now the group's thread and you (the Opie) shouldn't have the power to request it closed.' (barring some rule infraction) Just my opinion.

My problem with what I think you were saying is that the times that I have seen the OP request the threads to be closed is when it takes a bad turn off topic. Like the other thread when the OP started a thread to let people know about Kaylen being away and a silly joke took it way off topic for a few pages. The thread where Jada posted about her run went way off topic in a bad way. Its not like people are posting things and asking them to be stopped for no reason.

I think it is a very poor decision to not follow the past traditions of the board in this case.

I don't think a thread should ever be closed even if it runs amock...At some point most threads seem to drift..this crap about people requesting threads be closed kinda reminds me of I'm gonna take my toys and go home...

Let em die a natural death I say..and to those who constantly whine about closing threads...bring back a couple of ex-mods turned ambassadors..

Modda & Adeptus are gettin it right...IMO..

so, perhaps a refresher would be helpful on the guidelines for requesting the closing of a thread.

I will say that after looking back on some recent threads I did notice some OPs requesting threads to be closed that truely deserved the shit storm they brought on. I normally abandon dumb threads early so I would always see some of the requests. I do think there are a fair amount of threads though that should be closed at the OPs request. The satire thread is probably a good case where the OP doesnt deserve to be able to request the thread to be closed even though the world is probably a dumber place from people reading it.
