What ever happened to these awful NFL coaches.....
i don't really care what happened to them....was just thinking of terrible coaches from the late 80's, early 90's
i know Fontes had some mild success when he coached Barry Sanders, but Rich Kotite was arguably the worst coach of all time.
any more to add to the list?
Wayne Fontes

I bet you do not know that Barry Sanders got our last scholarship offer. I would post my autograph football but I am in between computers and my pics have not been transfered yet
the story was we had a offensive coach went to Wichita to see a recruit and there had been a bunch of thunderstorms the first 4/5 weeks and Barry had about 500 yards total, the same coach went back in week ten and Barry had like 3000 yards

Here is a couple of dandies
Frank Kush, Colts 82-84 Record 11-28
Rod Dowhower, Colts 85-86 Record 5-24 (1986 went 0-13 before being shit canned)
How about Dom Capers you Houstonians? 4-12 / 5-11 / 7-9 / 2-14 from 2002-2005 with the Texans

In light of the fact that Dom was coaching an expansion team, the poor record is a little deceiving.
Bottom line, he is a fairly good DC.
He was not a very good HC. (He did beat the Cowboys in the Texans first ever regular season game, but it was downhill after that!)
I doubt he will ever get another NFL HC job, but he would probably be an upgrade on half of the NFL teams as a DC!
That pretty much sums it up!

2-14 in the 4th year of a team is poor, period.
I forgot about his guy, Marion Campbell
Falcons 1974 1-5
Falcons 1975 4-10
Falcons 1976 1-4 (shit canned)
His triumphant return to the NFL in 1983
Eagles 1983 5-11
Eagles 1984 6-9-1
Eagles 1985 6-9
Then to add insult to injury, the Falcons took him back
Falcons 1987 3-12
Falcons 1988 5-11
Falcons 1989 3-9 (shit canned, for good)
At least he was consistent.

Les Steckel
Minnesota Vikings 1984 3-13
He was also Offensive Coordinator for the 1999 Titans.
He called the play that ended up 18 inches short of the goal line as time ran out in the Super Bowl.

Mushmouth Lou
Lou Holtz
Another Jets train wreck. We all know him today as that old ornery guy on College Gameday with the wet speech impediment. In 1976, during the first year of a 5 year contract, he resigned with 3 games left in the season. The Jets finished 3-13. He actually tried to force the pro players to learn and sing a "Fight Song" before each game. He was a duck out of water when it came to the pro game.
