Getting RID of a fetish? This is a new one for me and I would appreciate some input!

Someone called me asking me to help him get rid of a fetish that he's had for a very long time. Although I'm sure that some may suggest counseling, negative consequences etc., how in the world could someone lose their particular fetish?

Doesn't seem that likely one could do so.

Thoughts? (I declined the appointment but still ... )

Not sure I understand. Sometimes, experiencing a fetish is enough to get you "over it" I would guess.

I have done anal and fisting, so those are not high on my list of activities, but I would go there again in the right circumstances.

I guess a little electroshock therapy with a cattle prod might be enough to rid someone of a fetish type desire.

Depends. Making the fetish experience so negative over time, while offering a "carrot" of something better so that they start to want the carrot activity more? Would require repeat visits.

Also, probably replacement on his own time: when he gets the urge for the certain fetish, try to replace it with porn/thoughts/experiences of something else and hopefully over time he'll be trained into a new fetish?

I think it depended on what the fetish was.

I will not name any one but when i took a trip to Chicago and someone called and said he needed help with a fetish that he was afraid of it going further.

This guy wanted me to help him get rid of sniffing his deleted. underaged reference. by it thus= wanting to rape his ditto..deleted. he had a beautiful wife i would of banged her and so would most guys on this board... so why are you interested in sniffing you ***** & so on????

He gave me consent to notify his wife of course he just couldn't bare the fact of having to tell her himself.... this wasn't a joke he really wanted the bad habit broken, i'm not sure why he contacted a Domme to do it but at least he was able to get help.

I get calls like this a lot but on my website some have me listed under behavior modification specialist, in which I did minor in Psychology in my nursing degree so for me it's not just a hook or a gimmick.

I do try to help some of my clients break bad habits... But this type of call comes in to me at least three times a month, NO discussion of children allowed. Ever. ew , excessive rapes, slacking, not doing their best ...

They are fetishes to get a certain feeling i.e. raping a NO discussion of children allowed. slacking to get on the naughty list on purpose because they like the punishment they were going to get, however, on the other hand it's ruining their job so they have to stop it. etc.. it just depends on the guy or girl what the fetish is...

I don't honestly believe that one person can get rid of another person's fetish. Fetishes are deeply ingrained. Even understanding why a fetish exists, how it came about, etc., wouldn't do it.

For example, I realize intellectually that insects are every bit as valid a protein source as beef, but I have a deep-seated revulsion at the thought of eating insects.

I know that my fascination with the idea of having large objects stuck up my ass has potential danger associated with it, but never the less, it still occupies a fair amount of time in my day to day thoughts.

I agree with you, slowchris. This person actually called me back and I told him as much. Desires, and needs, are just deep rooted and it's just there.

I don't see how someone would be able to change who they are. (Shades of the way sometimes homosexuals are treated. People trying to "cure" them comes to mind)
